Methods of Mechanical Treatment of Metal Articles

Metalworking production today has turned into a high-tech and rather complicated process of manufacturing metal products. There are various technological methods and techniques that allow you to obtain both standard parts and blanks, as well as original piece products according to unique drawings. Mainly it is used manual or automatic processing of metal products on special machines. Below we will consider the basic methods of metal working.
The first class of methods involves working with metal without removing the material. This is a whole set of methods, which is designed for carrying out rough work on blanks. These include stamping, pressing, rolling, forging and some others. As a rule, after preparatory manipulations with the material, metal cutting is performed, which allows obtaining the required shape of the product, the required roughness class and the required size.
The most popular and effective type of metal working is processing by means of special machines with removal of material. This set of methods helps to form the final version of products in one or several approaches. Typically, a turning or milling turning is done, which is based on rotational energy, or drilling, which allows to obtain or expand holes in the workpiece. This procedure helps to create standard parts.
Grinding can also be used, used to give the metal surfaces the desired level of roughness, and planing, creating a certain shape of the product. And, finally, the most technologically complex method of metal processing with material removal is a pressure change based on the property of plasticity. Under certain conditions, metal billets are able to change their shape without destroying the structure.
Under pressure, drawing, stamping, forging, rolling and some other procedures can be performed. At the same time, the material quality increases, the surface becomes smoother, the service life is increased. This method allows you to create both piece products according to unique drawings, as well as typical parts (for example, under the manufacture of springs). The metal is processed in a cold state or heated.
Often, to get the product with the right parameters, the right size, you have to subject it to several metalworking procedures (cold stamping is one such procedure). If more than one machine is involved in creating a part, this processing is considered universal.
