Metal corner - one of the most common types of profiles

Over the past decades, the construction industry has been particularly developed, and this is due primarily to the fact that the country has reoriented the construction industry as a whole. It's no secret that in our time, many-storeyed standard houses are being built less and less often, as it once happened with the Khrushchevs, and even earlier - with the stalinkas. Despite this, in the construction from that time to this day there are materials that, thanks to their excellent thermal and physical properties, as well as properties, become the most in demand in most of the erected buildings and structures.

Steel and articles thereof

One such material is steel, which, despite its relatively light weight (average density = 7860 kg / cubic meter), has all the necessary characteristics for capital construction. In this article we will discuss such a variety of steel products as rolling steel profiles. In particular, we will consider a metal corner

So, what is it?

A metal corner is one of the types of rolling profiles. It is widely used in construction. Externally the corner of the metal is a L-shaped beam, which can be made of various types of steel.

Classification of corners

This type of profiles has its own characteristics, due to which they have their own classification. For example, according to the variety of sections of the corners, they can be divided into 2 types: equal and unequal. As can be seen from the name itself, in the equal-angle corner the shelves are equal in size, but the unequal-metal metal angles have a different size. The width of the shelf of the corners can be in the range from 20 to 200 millimeters, and the length, in turn, varies from 4 to 12 meters.

In the photo below you can see an equal-angle metal corner. The design is as simple as possible.

And here there is an unequal metal corner:

By the method of manufacture, these elements are divided into the following:

  • Hot-rolled (the process in which rolling of the harvested product takes place by means of rotating shafts, so that the necessary shape is given to it). Hot-rolled corners are the most popular, especially when it comes to the construction of multi-storey monolithic structures (serve as the basis for rigid fittings), residential buildings and large building structures.
  • Bent (this form is obtained by using a special roll-forming machine). Such corners are not used as part of the supporting structure, but only in cases where there is no need for resistance to increased loads, and also in a high level of strength and reliability.

To increase the strength and resistance to external influences, the metal corner can be prone to the galvanizing process.

Conclusion

The modern market offers all potential customers a metal corner, the dimensions of which depend on the grade of steel used in its manufacture. Typically, the data are given in the appropriate table (depending on the linear size of the corner - data on its mass, density and footage).
