Measuring cup - accuracy in cooking

The most "delicious" art is cooking. And it consists of two main points - accuracy and inspiration. And precisely accuracy is most important at the initial stage. Agree, to prepare "by sight" can only an experienced person, doing a certain operation many times. A beginner culinary needs a book of recipes with an indication of the exact number of necessary ingredients. Here and come to the aid of various adaptations, the most important of which is a measuring glass.

The measuring cup is designed precisely for measuring the amount of food necessary for preparing the dish. It is always present in the kitchen of every mistress, measuring milliliters and grams of various liquids and loose products. Measuring cups are very diverse in appearance, material of manufacture and graduation. It can be a large pitcher up to 1.5-2 L volume or a small beaker at 20-50 ml. It all depends on why and where this dish is used.

The material from which the measuring cup is made is very important. Now it is mostly plastic. There are also products made of glass, metal and ceramics. The main thing in choosing a material is the ease of use (clear and well-marked graduation), strength (suddenly slipping out of your hands?) And the ability to withstand high and low temperatures (when measuring a hot product or putting it in the freezer). For a serious cook, who is accustomed to work quickly and accurately, the property of the glass "to lie down in the hand" is of no small importance.

The types of measuring utensils vary in the way they are used. For liquids, a measuring cup with a clear graduation in milliliters is usually used. Its optimal size is 250-500 ml. Often on the opposite side of the dishes are marked and units of granular substances - grams, milligrams. This glass is universal. With it, you will pick up the required amount of both a liquid and a loose product, and it will remain the only required measuring capacity in your kitchen.

When preparing various cocktails, use a measuring cup with two containers of different volumes (20 and 40 grams), sealed together by bottoms. It is called a "jigger" (jigger) and is an important device in the work of a bartender.

Recently, our hostesses like the tradition of measuring the volume of various products with cups ("cup"), which has come from abroad. This measure is also present in the recipes of various European and American cuisines, so advanced culinary specialists necessarily have in their arsenal a set of measuring cups of various sizes. The volume of the standard American cup is 240 ml, the European one - 10 ml more. The set is often made up of one standard cup and three smaller ones - 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 cup.

Measuring cups for every taste are represented on the domestic market widely and diversely. This is, above all, dishes from Russian producers (Polymerbeat, etc.), products from China, as well as Italy (Regent Inox), Turkey (Ucsan) and the Netherlands (Rosti Mepal).

Accuracy or inspiration? Which of them put on the first place, everyone decides for himself. It is important and in this proportion to observe the measure. Therefore, a measuring glass is useful in any case, whatever the choice.
