Maria Mukhortova: a short biography of the Russian figure skater

Maria Mukortova - Russian athlete, engaged in figure skating. The most famous is the former partner of the Olympic champion Maxim Trankov.

Childhood

Mukhortova Maria Vladimirovna was born in the glorious city of Leningrad in 1985. But she did not live long there. When the baby was two years old, parents moved to Lipetsk (from there was the father of the family).

Little Masha accidentally got into figure skating. Initially, the parents planned to give the girl a water sport - jumping from a springboard. But soon the trainer told Mukhortov that Masha had too little growth for these classes.

About the set in the group of figure skating accidentally recognized Masha's mother, who saw an ad somewhere. Having conferred, the parents decided: there must be sport. After all, in skating on ice, beautiful and miniature young ladies were always appreciated. By the way, the Mukhortovs did not plan a big sports career for their daughter, they gave it to figure skating in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Carier start. Juniors

Maria Mukhortova immediately showed that she had a steel character, she was a very talented and persistent student. From the age of six, little Masha trained with Nina Vladimirovna Bystryakova, then moved on to coach Sukhareva. It was Galina Pavlovna who viewed the girl as a promising sportswoman and took her to St. Petersburg.

Masha was at that time thirteen years old. She fell into the hands of a wonderful coach Natalia Pavlova. From the solitary, Maria moved to the doubles, where her partner was Golovkin Egor. A couple of years he was replaced by Pavel Lebedev. It was with this young man that the first sports successes of Masha were connected. Together, they were in the national team of the country, went to the Grand Prix (junior), where they consistently fell into the top ten.

But soon a couple of Masha and Pasha experienced discord. Lebedev found himself a new partner, with whom he spoke until 2006 in amateur sports. And Masha was still searching for some time.

Takeoff

Maxim Trankov trained in the Velikiy group. He stood in a pair with Natalia Shestakova, but the guys showed average results. Then it was decided to put Maxim in a pair with Maria. This happened in 2003. And after one competitive season they became world champions among juniors. It was a success!

Maxim Trankov and Maria Mukhortova did a great job this season, winning all the tournaments held and taking the lead in the junior ranking.

But, unfortunately, the age of the guys said that it's time to move into the adult category. It was not easy for them. Either there were too many ambitions, or fears, or insecurities, but they began to often clash with each other, not to agree in working moments. Their coaches were constantly changing. With the pair worked and Velikova, and T. Moskvin, and A. Dmitriev.

Before the Olympic season

Masha and Maxim in 2006, took a break in his career for a couple of months to reflect on the current situation. In the end, they managed to agree, and they again got into a pair. The guys have a new coach - Oleg Vasilyev.

And immediately came the first victory:

• The championship of Russia 2007;
• The championship of Russia 2008 (silver);
• European Championships 2008 (silver).

But with the world championships the couple did not carry, then because of a partner's injury, then because of the broken elements. But the guys did not despair, but continued to compete zealously. Their main rivals in Russia were Kawaguchi / Smirnov, in the world - Savchenko / Silk.

In 2009, they successfully performed at Skate America (bronze) and went to the Grand Prix final in figure skating. Unfortunately, the high place was thwarted by the poisoning of Trankov. He did not feel good during the free program, as a result of which it failed.

The couple Mukhortova / Trankov simply pursued the setbacks. At the Russian championship in the same year, they confidently led, but broke several elements in an arbitrary, for which they received only silver. The same thing happened at the European and World Championships.

Olympic season

The season 2009-2010 for the pair started well. They won the Grand Prix stage. But then everything went again on the knurled. Falls in the main competitive championships and, as a result, the lack of moral preparation for the main competitions of the four-year period.

During the short program, Maxim again fell during the execution of the element, while Maria performed her jumps cleanly. But, apparently, having contracted from a partner, in the end, too, smeared several elements. The result is the seventh place and complete disappointment.

After these competitions, it became clear to everyone that the hopeful couple could not cope with the burden of responsibility. Yes, they themselves knew it, but continued joint performances. The boiling point was the World Cup 2010, where Trankov fell during the release of a partner. After that, he stated that their pair no longer exists.

Maria Mukhortova was left alone again. But not for long. Soon Vasiliev invited for the performance with the girl the Frenchman Jerome Blanchard. But their pair was unsuccessful, they could not break even into the top ten at the Russian championship. The Frenchman left for his homeland, leaving his career. And the Russian figure skater began to look for a partner again. But she did not succeed.

Nowadays

Masha completed her amateur career in 2011. Since then, she has not given up figure skating, but continues to please her fans by going to the show "Russian Ice Stars". She tours around the world with the programs "Cinderella on Ice", "Snow White", "Peter Pan" and others.

Maria Mukhortova, whose personal life is full of work only, never regretted that she had completed her amateur career. Only a dream of Olympic gold has remained a dream ...
