Lessons of "Photoshop": how to replace the face in "Photoshop"

Replace the face of one person with someone else in "Photoshop" is necessary for various reasons. Someone just wants to have fun, and someone just to practice their skills with the program. In this article, we will discuss in detail how to replace the face in Photoshop. A step-by-step instruction will be presented, on the basis of which each user will be able to master the necessary tools for doing such work.

Nuances

Immediately it is necessary to say that we will be replacing the face in Photoshop CS6 version. However, this operation is easy to perform on other versions, only some of the names of the instruments and their location can differ.

We will change the female face for masculine. Take, for example, the face of Leonardo di Caprio and the face of Olivia Wilde - all famous actors.

But before the story about how to replace the face in "Photoshop", it's worth telling about some nuances.

The first, and most important, is the maximum identity of the camera angle. It is best when both faces are photographed in full-face.

The second nuance is that the size of the photos taken is the same. After all, if the donor person, whom we will replace the original one, will be smaller in size, then the scaling will be noticeable defects (pixilation). A smaller resolution is allowed for the original photograph (the person to be replaced).

In the photo you can see that the angles do not converge a bit, so there will be a number of specific problems. But in this example, you will understand how to deal with them. So, let's get started.

Step 1. Open the photo and cut out the desired area

Now proceed directly to how to replace the face in Photoshop with another.

To do this, first of all, you need to open two photos in the program in different tabs. After that, go to the photo of the actor whose face we want to borrow and make a copy of the background layer. You can use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + J to do this.

Now you need to pay attention to the toolbar in Photoshop. On it you need to use the selection tool. It can be a lasso or a feather. For example, take a pen and outline the oval face. It is important not to go into darkened areas of the skin.

Now you need the "Move" tool. Select it and drag the selected area to the photo with another face. If someone does not know how to insert an object in Photoshop, then you just need to click on the LMB (left mouse button) and drag it to the desired tab, then navigate to the desired location and release the LMB.

Step 2. Combine the images

Many lessons of "Photoshop" teach the skills of working with tools, without providing detailed instructions on how to replace a person, but in this article you will learn this.

Our faces, as you can see, do not strongly merge with each other, so they need to be combined. To do this, first of all, it is necessary to set the Opacity of the layer with the cut out face to 65% and make it "Free Transform" (CTRL + T).

Now, rotating and resizing the face, set the desired parameters. To maintain proportions, use the SHIFT key.

What is worth combining in the first place, so it's the eyes. Check that they are located the same way, both on the original photo, and on the photo-donor. It will be great if the mouths also converge. To adjust them, use the possibilities of the same free transformation.

Once you have completed the alignment, press ENTER to apply the changes.

Step 3. Preliminary manipulations when using "Auto-overlay layers"

After you have leveled the faces, it may happen that the edges of the overhead object will extend beyond the face being replaced. To eliminate these inaccuracies, use the "Eraser" tool and wipe them. After that, set the opacity to 100%.

Now, holding CTRL, click on the layer of the carved face to select it. Then go to the menu "Selection → Modification → Compress" and enter the desired value. It depends on the size of the photo, but in this case it's enough for 5 pixels.

Now you need to create a copy of the original background. To do this, take this layer and transfer it to a special icon.

After that, press DEL to cut out the face of the original. Finally, remove the selection (CTRL + D).

Step 4. Using "Auto-Layers"

The last stage remains. It's the simplest. You should use the special function of the program. Many of her and so know, especially if we looked at the lessons of "Photoshop", but for the ignorant it is worth explaining.

We will use "Autoloading layers," but before that you need to select two layers - the donor face and the original face, which is cut out. After that, on the top panel click "Edit" and in the list choose "Auto layering".

A window will appear in which you need to select "Glass images" and click "OK".

As a result, the face will look more organic, and in the meantime you learned how to replace a person in Photoshop with one person to another.
