Lake Itkul (Khakassia) - the pristine beauty of nature

The nature of Russia, not once singed by writers and depicted in the paintings by artists, has for many centuries fascinated the human eye with its beauties. In the Shirinsky district, surrounded by wooded mountains, there is an unusually beautiful freshwater lake Itkul (Khakassia). Its pristine beauty leaves an extraordinary impression in the heart of every holidaymaker.

Where is the lake

The name of Itkul originates from ancient legends. The name of the brave hero Ita, who defeated the unkind water spirit of the lake, became part of the name, and the second part - kul - means "lake." In the pond, rivers such as Karysh, Karasuk and Teplaya flow into the water. Itkul itself is a source of drinking water for the nearby village of Zhemchuzhny.

The area of this pond is twenty-three square meters, and the average depth reaches seventeen meters. Lake Itkul (Khakassia) is surrounded by steppe massifs and mountains, which gives it an unusual, fabulous view.

You can get to this reservoir on the federal highway M-54 "Yenisei". To the lake there are numerous races, but from time to time they are dug in order to limit the entry of cars.

Lake Itkul (Khakassia) is located in a protected area, which is inhabited by diverse representatives of fauna and flora of more than five hundred species. Some of these plants and animals are listed in the Red Book of Khakassia, and some - in the Red Book of the Russian Federation.

Not so long ago the lake belonged to the public area and was a favorite place for holidaymakers. Cattle grazed on its shores , and many animals and plants were mercilessly destroyed by poachers and people who came to rest. And only after the formation of the reserve in the territory of the reservoir, the surrounding nature regained its original appearance, and the rare and endangered species of animals and plants were saved from death.

Since the greater part of Itkul belongs to the Khakass Nature Reserve, all actions carried out in this area (bathing, setting up a camp, etc.) are possible only with the permission of his administration.

What is interesting lake

Undoubtedly (after all, it is located in a protected area), Itkul (Khakassia) is a lake, fishing on which is prohibited. However, the underwater world of the reservoir is incredibly rich. Since the lake is very clean, it hosts a variety of different fish. In the waters of Itkul live perch, silvery crucian carp, bream, peled and other types of fish.

On the shores of the pond there are rare animals, such as peregrine falcons, eagles-burial grounds, balabans, and cranes-cranes.

It should be noted that Lake Itkul (Khakassia) is very popular among holidaymakers who prefer not fishing with a fishing rod, but scuba diving with scuba diving. Also tourists-vodniki quite often organize trips on kayaks. A route starts from Itkul and goes through one of the Spirinsky Lakes - Orlinoye. Further it passes along the Tuim River and ends at Lake Beloe.

The water in the pond warms only by the middle of July, but the swimming season lasts from June to August. The air temperature during this period can reach thirty-five degrees above zero, but at night it's pretty cool.

Summer months are an active occasion for the flowering of algae, so at this time allergy sufferers are not recommended to swim in the lake.
