Ladoga Railway Station in St. Petersburg

The origins of the railway communication of Russia are in St. Petersburg. The northern capital at one time became the ancestor of the spread of a new and very promising type of transport in the country. Infrastructure

Ladoga Railway Station (St. Petersburg) was built in a complex urban development situation. The small size of the plot did not allow the construction of the usual "coastal" type of building. In order to preserve the transit movement of trains at this railway junction, an elaborate three-tiered building was erected. It combined the functions of the station-tunnel and the station-bridge. A transport hub can simultaneously receive twenty-six pairs of trains that follow in the far directions, and fifty pairs of suburban trains. At the same time the station is equipped with modern electronic equipment. The work of all equipment is designed to improve safety, comfort, as well as the quality of transportation of passengers.

The scheme of the Ladoga station is simple. This complex consists of two buildings: the one where suburban trains stop, and the station intended for long-distance trains. The above structures are located both on the above-ground and at the underground level.

Lower tier

To the suburban train station, located in the underground part, you can reach the escalator. This moving track works on descent from the metro station, which is located above the ground. The suburban station, built at a depth of fifteen meters, is equipped with ticket offices for ticket sales. There are also turnstiles for access to electric trains. Not far from them there is a waiting room that communicates with the platforms. From the lower tier you can get to the metro station "Ladozhskaya", which is located underground.

Average level

This is a land zone, which is given to urban and rail transport. On the square near the station for the convenience of passengers there are stops of minibuses and trolleybuses. Nearby there are taxi stops.

Upper level

The above-ground part of the Ladoga station meets passengers with its large-scale glazing. From here you can take a trip on a long-distance train going in the north or east direction.

All three tiers of the station complex are connected by stairs and escalators, as well as huge light wells and ramps. In terms of development Ladoga station has a rectangular shape. On the sides there are two structures with cylindrical shapes. In these annexes are located administrative premises. Along the extreme path of the railway is a low block, in which auxiliary services are located. At the same time, this structure serves as a noise shield. From the metro this block is separated by an entrance zone, intended for urban overground transport.

The Ladoga railway station has a large track economy. There are fourteen railway tracks on its territory. Eight of them are designed for passenger trains that run in the suburban and far direction. Way to the Ladoga railway station

You can get to it by metro. This way will be the easiest and most convenient. The metro station "Ladozhskaya" adjoins the station building. Thanks to the transitions, passengers do not even need to go out. It is only necessary to climb the escalator from the metro vestibule, and then follow the signs to the Light Hall or go down to the train station for commuter trains.

How to get to Ladozhsky Station by land transport? Trolleybuses Nos. 1 and 22, as well as trams 8, 10, 50 and 64 stop outside the complex. More than thirty numbers of minibuses and buses come here from all parts of the city. Directly to the entrance to the upper level of the station can drive up a taxi.
