Lace-up of shoes: simple, complex, exquisite and mind-blowing

Only one lace, six pairs of holes and the usual lacing of shoes. Do you know how many different ways this lacing works? More than the stars in our galaxy - 400 billion! However, some mathematicians claim that this number, with all the most incredible options, is slightly less than two trillion! In theory. In practice, as they say, 43200 variants have been confirmed. If you tie your shoelaces every day in a new way, these methods will last for 118 years with a ponytail ...

However, only a few meet their main task, which consists of three points:

  • Pulling together two halves of shoes;
  • Ensuring tightening and loosening of the lacing without significant time and effort;
  • Preservation of form and beautiful appearance.

Let's try to describe the most actual ways of lacing shoes.

Cross-over (traditional)

The most common method. The boot laces from the outside to the inside. It's also a gentle option: the lacing on the shoe does not rub your foot.

From the inside out

Decorative method, hiding the ends inside. Also a gentle option, but for the laces themselves: their wear decreases.

In European style (ladder)

Laced through a series of holes, because of which the crossing point is located with a shift to the left, then to the right of the center line. It looks neat, except for the beginning of the lacing, which has an absurd look.

Direct (fashionable)

Also laces through the row, but not crossing, but strictly perpendicular to the center line. Tidy, but difficult and requires an even number of holes.

With a hidden node

The straight lacing version with the left end slightly longer than the right one. This allows them to tie them with a knot located inside the shoe. Shoes "without a knot" looks nice, but it causes discomfort to the owner.

Straight (light)

One lace enters the lower hole, runs along the bottom and emerges from the top, then drags to the other side and laces into all the holes perpendicular to the center line.

For the forest

The ends of the laces in this way should go out from the holes one on top of the other on the outer half of the shoe. Lace through the row, as with fashion lacing. This allows you to tie a knot on one side. Such lacing of shoes is asymmetrical and looks unimportant, but the tightening is balanced and the risk of snagging for branches and snags is reduced.

Butterfly

Crossing the laces over the boot alternates with the passes under the halves. Crosses pull them together, omissions partially relieve the leg. This method allows you to use relatively short laces.

Military

The reverse of the previous version: the crosses are located inside. It got its name because such lacing of shoes is practiced by servicemen of a number of armed forces.

With nodes

Instead of crossing the half of the lace are connected together, forming an additional spiral twisted together. This is an increased strength lacing winter boots for skis, rollers and skates.

There is also a great many absolutely breathtaking patterns, in which two-colored shoelaces and two laces of different colors are involved. Each such option is an individual creative. As you can see, the lacing of shoes, made in the most unusual way, is able simply and cheaply to make of your shoes something quite outstanding.
