Knee injury

Knee-related injuries are known to all athletes without exception. But in the ordinary life, this functional part of the leg is subjected to all sorts of tests. And a knee injury occupies the last place in the list of the most common injuries. Children, often falling, experience their body for strength, probably do not attach special significance to this event. But attentive adults should not dismiss the treatment or let it slide, believing that a bruise is a minor damage to the skin.

In the elderly, a small bruise can visually take awesome forms, but in fact have no consequences. A small minor bruise can bring darkness of troubles. It is better to be safe: what a bruise (light, moderate or severe) actually can be determined only by a doctor.

How can a layman distinguish a knee joint injury from stretching or fracture? How serious can the consequences be from untimely referral to specialists? If, with such a seemingly harmless diagnosis as a "bruise", very serious medical procedures involving joint puncture are carried out. Therefore, only a trauma doctor or a surgeon can decide how to treat a knee injury so as not to harm, not to turn a healthy person into an invalid.

The first help in such injuries is the application of cold to the site of a bruise, the leg is a canopy (at rest), a tight bandage or longet, which is superimposed for 2-3 weeks. This usually ends all care for the injured child or adult. But painkillers (if they are needed) are prescribed by doctors. Only they can determine whether the knee has a knee injury or something else. After all, it is not always possible for specialists to establish an accurate diagnosis. For this, an x-ray photograph is mandatory.

In addition to the emergency measures known to all, which can be used immediately after the injury, experts recommend a number of medications, not only relieving the sensation of acute pain, but also contributing to the reduction of edema of the knee. It's not just pills, but creams and ointments. Physiotherapeutic procedures (usually 10-15 sessions), accelerating the recovery process, are appointed by the doctor, also taking into account the severity of the injury. The specialist must decide where to get treatment for the patient: at home or in the hospital.

If everything is done on time and correctly, then the bruise of the knee passes quickly. The rehabilitation period depends on the severity of the injury. Have you ever thought that the knee joint is the largest joint in the human body, which is held together by all kinds of ligaments ?! And frequent damage to the knee joint is explained by the fact that it is located on the surface, on the most dangerous place: it is possible to touch the vessels and nerves adjacent to it. Therefore, in no case do you need to overload the knee after an injury, hurry, for example, to the gym. Physiotherapy exercises, and not athletic loads, contribute to the bruise of the knee being held systematically. In this case, the injured knee should no longer be in the longus, but may be bandaged with an elastic bandage.

Accelerate the healing process and resorption massages, thanks to which not only the edema decreases, the hemorrhage disappears, but muscles and joints become stronger. Such a massage, for example, in combination with thermal baths is recommended by specialists from the first days of injury.

Only the implementation of all the recommendations of the doctor in the complex will preserve the habitual and full life. If you want to self-medicate, or to be treated with the wrong methods, this can lead to serious consequences and complications.
