In March 2011, Kia Company presented the third generation of the budget model Rio at the Geneva auto show. In the summer of 2014, the car survived the restyling, which touched the technical part (new transmissions) and added two new shades to the body color scheme. The next stage of modernization of the Korean budget bestseller took place in 2015. In March of the same year, the manufacturer introduced the public to the KIA Rio 2016. It was this model in the sedan that became the subject of our today's conversation.

Adaptation to our market

At the heart of our "Rio" is the KIA K2 sedan, which was previously sold on the Chinese market. And this is quite logical, because this model, unlike the European Rio, has the same platform as Hyundai Solaris, which is assembled near St. Petersburg. This will facilitate the organization of the production of a new Rio for the CIS market at the same enterprise.

By the way, the car was not created specifically for the countries of the former USSR, but before the introduction to our market it went through a serious adaptation. This is about:

Appearance

The exterior of the KIA Rio 2016 has significantly changed. He received a new optics, an updated grille, some bumpers and more chrome parts on the body. Designers of the Korean company tried to give the model an original family style: bright and at the same time an adult. We are talking about miniature fog lights, stylish headlight optics, branded radiator grille and turn signals located on the sides and enclosed in chrome edging. The front bumper of the Kia Rio 2016 also got a slightly updated look. And expensive versions can also boast LED stripes of navigation lights, located above the fog lights.

The lateral and rear of the car looks more ordinary. The profile of the car has a calm and harmonious appearance. It emphasizes only the brilliant edging of the side windows and turn signals. The KIA Rio 2016 feed is topped with headlamps reminiscent of the Cerato model with LED light bulbs that are disguised as simple.

But what really attracts the eye is the cast rims of size 15 or 16, with the original design, giving the car a character. Unfortunately, they are available only for expensive versions, and in basic modifications there are simple stamped disks and caps.

The flagship engine received a volume of 1.6 liters and a capacity of 123 liters. from. He works with manual transmission or automatic transmission, in both cases at 6 speeds. To accelerate to 100 km / h, the sedan with this engine spends 10.3 seconds with the manual transmission and 11.2 seconds with the automatic transmission. The maximum speed is 190 and 185 km / h, respectively.

Platform

Sedan KIA Rio is a single-platform Hyundai Solaris and Hyundai i20. In front is an independent suspension McPherson, and behind - a semi-independent twisting beam. Packages and prices

The base version of the car, which received the name Comfort, costs 539,900 rubles. It is equipped with a 107-horsepower engine and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Among the options can be identified: ABS, front airbags, front eletrosteklo lift, power steering and heated exterior mirrors.

Version Comfort AC costs already 579 000 rubles and differs presence of the conditioner.

The Comfort RS package has a price of 619 000 rubles. It features an automatic 4-speed transmission.

Luxe also includes: a radio tape recorder, a multifunction steering wheel with heating, four electric windows and heated front seats. Rio in this version is 639 000 rubles.

The Prestige version, which costs 709,900 rubles, includes, among other things: climate control, steering wheel adjustment, LED running lights, lens front lights, windscreen heating, a light sensor, as well as heating the glass washer nozzles.

And finally, the top performance called Premium, which costs 809,000 rubles, besides all of the above, also has: ESP technology, engine start and access to the keyless saloon, rear parking sensors and alloy wheels at 16.

Hatchback

KIA Rio 2016 hatchback differs from the sedan very few. It has a more rapid profile due to the almost flat roof and sloping hood, as well as a stylish feed with beautiful headlights, a pseudo diffuser and a large bumper. The luggage compartment of the hatchback has a volume of 389 liters. In the rest it is completely identical to the sedan.
