Kalemci Hotel 3 * (Turkey / Marmaris) - photos, prices and hotel reviews

Marmaris is one of the most popular holiday centers in Turkey. A beautiful city not far from Bodrum, located in a tranquil bay on the border of the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, attracts many tourists, so the hotel chain is well developed here.

When choosing a hotel, it is always useful to get acquainted with detailed information and with the reviews of other travelers. This article provides information about Kalemci Hotel (Kalemchi).

Marmaris

The air of Marmaris is filled with aromas of pines and cypresses growing on the slopes of nearby mountains, eucalyptus and warm sea. Kalemci Hotel is located at the beach between the turquoise sea and the green hills of the majestic mountains.

The city in a picturesque bay overlooking the three islands was built here six hundred years before our era, and was then called Fiskos.

Now in its place is modern Marmaris with colorful bazaars, eucalyptus gardens, orange groves, green palms, countless cafes, restaurants and entertainment centers.

Nearby is the international airport (Dalaman), it is also possible to travel to Greece by ferry to the island of Rhodes and buses that depart daily to other cities in Turkey.

The harbor of Marmaris is the largest in the Aegean Sea, about 1,000 ships can enter here. Therefore it is not surprising that here is the center of sailing of Turkey and the yachtsmen from all over the world gather.

Most of the peninsula is a reserve, and the unique nature of Marmaris is protected by the state (many travelers are surprised to see numbered date palms). In the protected bay, the summer residence of the head of the Turkish Republic was built.

Climate and beaches

In this region there is always good weather - hot summer (+ 35-38 о С in July) and a damp warm winter (+10 о С in January). Spring and autumn are a wonderful time when the air temperature is +25 о С, and the sea warms up to +20 о С in May and +28 о С in September.

Tourists vacationing in the Kalemci Hotel, note the unique microclimate of Marmaris, which is closed by mountains from the winds, is not very high humidity (35%) and healing air filled with essential oils of pine, eucalyptus and cypress trees.

Due to the closed bay on the sea there are no high waves, on the beaches there is a smooth entrance to the water without breakages and sharp stones.

On the coast there are many perfectly equipped beaches from a variety of hotels. You can swim on any of them if you pay for the entrance or buy a drink in a bar nearby (3-10 lira). It should be borne in mind that on most beaches there is no shower.

Near the hotel Kalemci Hotel 3 * is a town pebbly and sandy beach (150 m), equipped with toilets and cabanas. Umbrellas and deckchairs are paid. The hotel does not have its own beach.

The municipal beach is not very clean, many tourists go to the beaches of Icmeler (7 km from Marmaris), to the north of the Jennet peninsula, as well as to the Kumlubuk and Turunc islands.

A long beautiful promenade and a large beach are in Uzunali area (on the road between Marmaris and Icmeler).

In the Bay of Bonjouk, tourists have the opportunity not only to swim, sunbathe, but also to watch sharks.

Another famous beach is in the village of Orhaniye - it is famous for its underwater braid, which stretches for 600 meters (that is, you can just walk on the water when the depth reaches the ankle).

The best beach is Cleopatra on the island of Sedir (a unique sand, brought for the ancient queen from Egypt).

Tips for tourists

Going on holiday in Marmaris and planning to stay at the hotel "Kalemchi", read the recommendations of experienced tourists:

  • It is not necessary to exchange dollars (euros). Lira will be needed for travel by bus or taxi, and any goods can be bought at local stores for dollars.
  • At all bazaars and shops, you have to bargain, and from the very beginning to reduce the declared price three times.
  • In the hotel "Kalemchi" it is better to take a room on the lower floors, because because of the slow and stuffy elevator you have to run several times a day on the stairs.
  • When choosing apartments, you can only follow the floor on which they are located, because they are all the same.
  • It is worthwhile to take with it an English-Russian dictionary (you can download to the phone), because the staff basically does not speak Russian.
  • Bring a USB flash drive with books, movies and games, as the Internet is only in the lobby, and access costs five dollars a day.
  • Take bath towels with you, because they can not be taken out of rooms, but they are not given out by the pool.
  • By buses-dolmushi (white shuttle buses) in a few minutes and 2,5 lira from a person it is possible to get to Icmeler (another tourist village nearby) - there is a very clean sea, and even tiny fish float, and the beaches are not so crowded (although Umbrellas and beds are also paid).
  • In Icmeler there is a special beach with free sunbeds for the guests of the hotel "Kalemchi". We need to get off at the Nirvana Beach stop, go down the stairs and go left to the end.
  • In Marmaris, there are no own factories for the manufacture of leather, so there is not much choice of leather products, and the prices for them are more expensive than in other cities of Turkey.
  • From local products, tourists celebrate excellent honey plaice. It has an original pine aroma and fine taste.
  • You should always use sunscreen, especially during trips and excursions.
  • The best gyms are usually in five-star hotels. Many tourists like to go in for sports in the hall of the hotel "Elegance" (40 lire per person for 1 visit).

Conclusion

Kalemci Hotel is suitable for budget holidays and is designed for active middle-aged people and young people. For those who prefer quiet and peaceful rest, the neighboring village of Icmeler is more suitable.
