John Lasseter: biography, filmography and photos

Modern cartoon paintings are becoming more realistic, no longer to meet plasticine, puppet and even hand-drawn stories. Yes, and in themselves, cartoons are not always created only for children. Gorgeous computer graphics make it incredibly realistic and vivid. One of the founders of the "new" cartoon was John Lasseter. His works are known everywhere, and even people who are absolutely not keen on the world of cartoon characters know McQueen's racing wheelbarrow, the brave Elsa of the painting "The Cold Heart" and, of course, the cowboy Woody and the space ranger named Buzz. John Lasseter became the creator of all these heroes, as well as many others, no less outstanding and iconic for the culture of our time.

Birth of an outstanding multiplier, family

To thank for the birth of a talented director, scriptwriter and producer, his parents - Juell and Paul Lasseter - are needed, although initially they had predicated their son on a different fate. And who knows what would be his biography then. John Lasseter did not depart from his childhood dream and became known to the whole world as a multiplier. Since his birth he lived in Hollywood, but none of John's family belonged to the world of cinematography.

Nevertheless, it was the mother's profession, according to Lasseter himself, that marked the beginning of his cartoon career. John's father was a car dealer, but my mother taught drawing at a local school. She opened the world of fine art before the boy. In his youth, he entered the university, where his parents studied, but after hearing about the possibility of studying at the Institute of Arts in California at the faculty of animation, he was transferred there without hesitation.

Becoming a great animator

There he became a disciple of the best masters of his craft, many of whom were employees of Walt Disney, and among the classmates with whom John Lasseter gnawed the granite of science, there were no less outstanding personalities - Tim Burton, Brad Bird and Henry Salik.

As a student, John was able to create a good name among the teachers. At that time, a great future was already foretold to him. After graduating from university in 1979, he immediately started working as an animator, but several years of work showed him that the world requires something new, and he can give it to him. Once stumbling upon a video recording with frames of computer graphics, John decided to try this technique for animation. Thus, he became the progenitor of cartoons created on the computer.

A new era of cartoons

At that time, this topic was not sufficiently studied and claimed, but understanding that behind the graphics the future, John left Disney for another company - Lukasfilm, who was more proficient in computer processing. But the financial difficulties and the novelty of his ideas did not always allow him to create for his own pleasure. Unexpected support he receives from Steve Jobs, who bought Lukasfilm. Over time, this company was renamed into the now-known to everyone and everyone animation studio Pixar. John Lasseter oversaw various projects as a producer at this studio, as well as part-time in the Disney film company, to which he returned on much more favorable terms in 2006.

His first award, John earned back in 1988, when he received an Oscar for a short cartoon "Tin Toy." The second statuette, he earned thanks to the cartoon that conquered the whole world. It was the "Toy Story", and the American Film Academy recognized in 1995 as its breakthrough, because the whole cartoon was made using computer graphics.

In addition, in the list of his achievements, other nominations and victories also appear. So, he is among the top ten animators in the world, he won the "Winzor McKay" award and was even recognized as an honorary doctor of the University of Pepperdine, where he began his studies. Naturally, such an outstanding Hollywood figure can not but have his own star on the Walk of Fame and, of course, he left his imprint in this glorious place, perpetuating his name on this starry Olympus.
