Is nature a temple or a workshop? Points for and against

Nature accompanies a person throughout his entire existence as a species and humanity as a cultural and social community in general. According to many scientists and philosophers, people themselves are fully the products of nature, its evolutionary development. Of course, we can not exclude the religious context of the issue. After all, according to the majority of the inhabitants of the planet Earth, man is created by God (and some identify the Creator with Nature). In what nature is - a temple or a workshop, let's try to get over this article. But in the beginning - a little about the terms.

The concept of "Nature"

This is what surrounds us. It is divided into non-living and living. Inanimate include the bowels and rivers, lands and waters, stones and sand - inanimate objects. Everything that moves, grows, is born and dies - the living nature. It is made up of plants and animals, and even man himself as a biological species. The biosphere and everything connected with it is nature. A temple or a workshop is for a person, what is its role in the relationship with the Blue Planet, as with a living being?

Nature - workshop

"Man is an employee in it." These famous words of Turgenev, uttered by Bazarov's mouth, for a long time stirred the minds of young revolutionaries from science. The hero of the novel is a very contradictory personality. He is a secret romantic and a hidden nihilist at the same time. This explosive mixture and causes its concepts: in the surrounding nature there is nothing mysterious, secret. Everything is subject to man and his reasonable activity. In the understanding of Bazarov, nature should be beneficial - this is its only purpose! Of course, every person (and even - the character of the novel) has the right to his point of view, and choose for himself: nature - a temple or a workshop? To all those who share the nihilism of Bazarov, it may seem that everything around can be remade, corrected for themselves. After all, a person, in their opinion, is the King of Nature, who has the right to these actions, bringing him good. But look how the hero ended his life. According to some modern interpretations of the work, the young scientist is killed by Nature itself (in the figurative sense of the word). Prosaic only the very reason - a scratch on the finger of the hero who invades a crude scalpel into the routine of life and death and dies! The negligence of the cause should only emphasize the force inequality before death, as it is not denied.

Destructive activity of people

The consequences of certain human activities (the development of scientific and technological progress, the development of mineral resources and the thoughtless use of natural resources) are sometimes catastrophic. This is especially evident in recent decades. Nature simply does not stand such an impact and begins to slowly die. And with it, many species of plants and animals can disappear, including humans, as a species of mammals. All the more tragic is the problem of the survival of mankind and all living things. And if you do not stop in time, all this can lead to global, already inevitable consequences.

Where is the road to the temple?

These events make us seriously think: what kind of relationship should be? What is Nature: a temple or a workshop? Arguments in favor of the first point of view are quite weighty. After all, if humanity belonged to mother nature as a temple, the Earth today would not know those problems with the environment, the power to solve which spends all the progressive community of scientists. And time, according to the forecasts of some specialists, remains less and less!

Of course, nature is the temple in the first place. And there it is necessary to enter with a feeling of deep faith and behave there, without violating the established customs.

Is nature a temple or a workshop?

Arguments in favor of harmony are undeniable. First, man himself is the basic part of nature. A person and nature should not even be considered separately from each other. They are one whole. Secondly, the relationship should include a special responsibility, as a being reasonable, a person in front of nature, his caring attitude towards it. Since childhood in people it is necessary to bring up this feeling of guardianship of those whom we have tamed. And the activity of the society literally "tamed" the entire environment.

The concept of noosphere

In such an issue as "nature - a temple or a workshop" can help study the works of brilliant scientists who have significantly outpaced in their views the existing understanding of the world.

Academician Vernadsky, for example, was one of those who first pointed to the unity of nature and man. The biosphere, altered by the reasonable activity of people, in its understanding, corresponds to the notion of the noosphere. This is a new sphere of the mind, where human activity becomes the determining factor of development. It, in turn, has a huge impact on natural processes, up to destruction and the possibility of self-destruction. In the doctrine of the noosphere, man is deeply entrenched in nature, and mankind is a powerful geological force that transforms the appearance of the planet and its appearance. The developed noosphere is formed by the forces of the whole society in the interests of mutual enrichment and all-round development.
