The Republic of Belarus ... You can hear about this country quite often. It is famous for its wonderful nature. Almost no one is indifferent to being here. Most amazing are magnificent forests and reserves, which are quite a lot on the territory of this country. However, this is not all that the Republic of Belarus can boast of. Animals living on its territory are also of great interest. The fauna here is very diverse. You can see a lot of rare animals and get unforgettable impressions.

Animals of the Republic of Belarus - a small review

This land is very rich. As you know, a lot of natural resources and attractions are in the Republic of Belarus. Animals living here deserve special attention. If we talk about the world of fauna in general, it can be noted that the territory of this country inhabits a myriad of individuals. Here there are about 400 different vertebrate species (according to some data, this figure is much larger) and about 8 thousand invertebrates.

Some of them have long been listed in the Red Book. There are representatives of fauna that are on the verge of extinction. Other individuals long ago crossed this line - they are no longer found on these lands. However, there are also positive moments. Sometimes new species of birds suddenly appear here. In addition to the natural migration of animals, the fauna is also replenished by imported individuals.

What mammals live here?

So, it is necessary to consider the fauna of the Republic of Belarus in more detail. Animals here, as already mentioned, are extremely diverse. It is worth starting a story with mammals. In all there are about 73 species. They live in the wild. Of these, you can identify rodents and predators. The first here are represented by 24 different species, the second - 16.

The diversity of animals is due to various favorable natural factors and conditions. Local meadows, forests and fields are an ideal place for living individuals of different species. Animals that are most often found here are hares, wolves, wild boars, foxes, beavers, moose, wolves and deer. Many species are under special protection, as they can disappear. One of such animals is bison. They live in one of the country's reserves, where they are carefully taken care of.

Birds

Thus, we have become thoroughly acquainted with some representatives of the animal world that live in the Republic of Belarus. Animals, and especially birds, require detailed study. So let's talk more about feathered creatures.

In total there are more than 280 bird species on the territory of the state. Most of them nest in these lands. It should be noted separately and migratory birds, of which about 38 species are known. Also on the territory of Belarus there are birds that fly only for the winter. Most live in forests, where conditions are most favorable. They also often nest in swamps or near various water bodies. Much less species are localized in the fields and near populated areas. The most common here is the family of passerines.

In the forest you can have different wild birds: wood grouse, woodcock, partridge, black grouse and others. Among the waterfowl the most common is the mallard, the red-headed duck, the teal teal. Most often there are songbirds in the forest. Among them, there are especially many finches, thrushes, foam-rattles and others.

Fish

The fauna of the Republic of Belarus is also represented by a large number of fish. Here they are more than 50 species. Most often you can see a pike, roach, red, ordinary carp, bream, bleak, catfish, perch, burbot and other species. Of particular interest is the fact that here also live grayling, eel, smelt and some other, more rare species. However, they can only be found in rivers that belong to the Baltic Sea basin. The economy is widely distributed in the Republic of Belarus. They are actively engaged in breeding fish, which had not previously met in the local nature.

The Red Book of Belarus: animals that are included in it

So, we examined the main animals, which are most often found in this country. Despite favorable natural conditions for living, the number of individuals of some species is significantly reduced, and some have disappeared without a trace. This process began a long time ago, back in the 17th century. Then the population of European tours completely died out. Then in the XIX century, sable, deer, wolverine and some other species disappeared. This fate has not bypassed the birds. Many of them either completely disappeared, or changed the area of residence.

Now we should talk about what representatives of fauna the Red Book of Belarus is currently writing. The animals brought into it are also on the verge of extinction. It was first published in 1981. Then on its pages it was designated about 80 kinds of animals. Since 2007, the book has been published in the electronic version. Now it includes more than 180 endangered species, among them there are common lynx, mink, brown bear, badger, European bison, common flying squirrel, speckled ground squirrel and others.

Local nature

Thus, a lot of species inhabiting this country were considered: birds, fish, mammals and other wild animals of Belarus. Now we need to talk about the nature of this state in order to understand why it is so favorable for many fauna to live here.

The forest occupies slightly less than half of the entire territory of the country. The largest forests are Nalibok and Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Belarus is rich in green plantations. There are almost no districts in which they are absent. We can say that the country can boast not only remarkable forest tracts, but also water objects. More than 20 thousand rivers flow here and there are about 11 thousand different lakes.

Famous Reserves

As you know, there are several extensive protected areas on the territory of Belarus. They are under special protection of the state. This allows you to save nature and animals. There are 6 similar facilities, each of which has the status of a national park. The most famous of them are Belovezhskaya Pushcha and Braslav Lakes. Also known are national parks such as Narochansky and Pripyatsky. In addition, the Polessky State Radiation Ecological Reserve and the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve operate. All these facilities are very popular. In some of them special excursions are sent to get better acquainted with the inhabitants of protected areas.

Bialowieza Forest

So, we got acquainted with the main reserves of this country. The most famous of them is Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Belarus, as you know, is rich in forests, but this place will amaze everyone. This is one of the oldest objects of this type in the whole of Europe. The reserve is a forest that originated in primitive times.

It is interesting that these places are mentioned in the chronicles in 983. Here lives a myriad of animals, incredibly ancient trees grow. Some of them are between 200 and 350 years old. This place is unique and is protected by the state.
