Is it possible to treat female infertility?

According to the available data of the World Health Organization, a couple who, being of childbearing age, a woman can not become pregnant within a year, despite the regular sex life and the absence of contraceptives, is infertile. As is known, the reproductive system of both men and women is an incredibly complicated and confusing mechanism that under certain conditions can fail, and subsequently lead to a violation of fertility. To date, the treatment of female infertility is on the agenda of almost all developed countries, since annually this diagnosis is put on the order of 18% of couples. Specialists allocate conditional 22 female and 16 male factors, which under certain circumstances can lead to such a sentence. Before proceeding to such an issue as the treatment of female infertility, it is important to note that both partners must necessarily undergo a comprehensive and very long examination with specialists (gynecologist / andrologist).

Causes of infertility

Treatment of female infertility, as already noted above, should begin only after the main cause is identified. Below, we consider some of the factors that lead to this kind of problem.

  • Immunological factors (otherwise - the problem of incompatibility). In this case, the female body constantly produces some antibodies to the incoming sperm of the partner, which, in turn, does not allow the fertilization of the egg. Spermatozoa become inactive, and soon they die.
  • Inflammatory processes directly in the sex organs themselves (chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc.). Very often in the body of a woman, some especially dangerous infectious diseases are asymptomatic, which subsequently leads to a chronic stage already, and this is a direct way to the impossibility of becoming pregnant.
  • Hormonal disorders. As is known, hormonal processes are responsible for ovulation. Even with minor changes in this system (no monthly, lower levels of progesterone), the probability of infertility is high.
  • Obstruction of the fallopian tubes. So, adhesive processes, inflammatory diseases, abortions, operations, including on the pelvic organs, often lead to this problem, which, in turn, prevents the egg from reaching the uterus, and then fertilize.

Female infertility. Treatment

According to experts, the treatment of female infertility is to get rid of the primary reason. It includes medicamentous (hormonal therapy) and surgical options, as well as basic methods of assisted reproduction. It is important to note that the treatment of female and male infertility only occurs in some cases simultaneously. Most often, the "reason" lies in only one partner.

At the present time it is considered that in vitro fertilization (otherwise IVF) is one of the most popular and simultaneously effective options. The thing is that artificial insemination is most often prescribed if the cause lies in the obstruction of the fallopian tubes in women, infertility in men, in endometriosis, ovulation failure. As a rule, IVF is carried out in several stages. Initially, in vitro, eggs and semen are mixed. After a while, already fertilized eggs are kept under certain conditions in the laboratory, and only then placed in the uterine cavity. It is important to note that with IVF the chances of a multiple pregnancy increase significantly.
