Is it possible to overtake a slow moving vehicle?

A low-speed vehicle is a technical vehicle used for transportation, whose speed does not exceed thirty kilometers per hour according to the passport. However, additional restrictions and modifiers are not taken into account. Low-speed will be a vehicle, which for some reason can not develop a speed limit of more than thirty kilometers per hour.

How are these means indicated?

Special signs are used to designate slowly moving vehicles. On them are guided by overtaking other road users. A low-speed vehicle is indicated by a special label or sign.

This is an equilateral red triangle having the same color reflective fringe. In some cases, it can be yellow. Inside the triangle is covered with fluorescent coating. The sign is mounted on the back of the treadmill. If there is no triangle, then a special sticker must be attached to the body of this vehicle.

Is it possible to overtake a slow-moving vehicle that does not have a special sign?

Such a vehicle can be overtaken, even if there are no corresponding designations. But at the same time the driver should be sure that the speed of the vehicle ahead of him can not exceed thirty kilometers per hour. Even if there is no sign or sticker, there will not be a fine or deprivation of rights for overtaking.

But there are other situations. For example, when the driver overtakes the vehicle under the sign "Overtaking is prohibited", but ahead of the vehicle in its technical characteristics can develop more than thirty kilometers per hour, and for some reason moves with less speed. In this case, you can lose the rights for overtaking.

When is it permitted to overtake?

It is possible to overtake a slow-moving vehicle under a prohibitory sign if it is:

  • A motorcycle without a stroller;
  • a bike;
  • Horse cart ;
  • moped;
  • Low-speed transport (a tractor, an ice rink for asphalt, etc.).

All other vehicles can not be overtaken. But this rule is valid, if there are no other actual bans on anticipation.

Overtaking through solid markup

Overtaking a slow-moving vehicle through continuous marking was allowed not so long ago. Back in 2010 and 2012 years. Regulatory amendments appeared in the SDA. Low-speed vehicles can be overtaken by continuous marking. But only under the prohibitory sign. This was done to unload small roads, which are often very slow moving special machinery (road rollers, tractors and other low-speed vehicles, often found on Russian roads).

Prohibiting signs are usually installed in emergency places, where the overtaken may not notice that the driver behind him decided to overtake him. As a result, the first machine can accelerate, as a result - an accident occurs. In addition, on rural and suburban routes slow TS create serious "traffic jams". And drivers lose a lot of time, "dragging" for the slow pace. Therefore, the SDA has been amended.

Overtravel rules

But they apply only to the sign "Overtaking is forbidden" (3.20). In its absence, the old rules apply:

  1. On the road there is a prohibitory sign overtaking. But the markup is intermittent or there is none at all. In this case, the overtaking of a slow-moving vehicle is permitted.
  2. On the road there is a solid line of marking (1.1 or 1.11), but the prohibitory sign is not installed. So, you can not overtake anyway.
  3. Accordingly, points one and two, the situation looks quite contradictory, if a prohibiting sign and solid marking are simultaneously installed on the road. Until 2010, it was impossible to overtake. But after amendments to the traffic regulations in this situation, slow-moving vehicles can be left behind.

Sluggish vehicles are required to drive a little to the right or stop to skip a series of cars that have gathered behind. This is also a recent amendment to the rules of the road.

You can not overtake a slow-moving vehicle if there is one more car up to it that does not dare or does not want to overtake the slow transport ahead of itself.

What punishment is provided for overtaking overtaking?

Often on the roads there are situations when the vehicle, according to the technical characteristics, moves very slowly. And sometimes on the vehicle there are no signs indicating a slow-moving car. In this case, ahead of the slowly moving vehicle ahead is possible only if the driver is sure that the special equipment can not go at a speed exceeding thirty kilometers per hour. For example, if a tractor, an asphalt compactor, etc., moves in front of the driver,

In any other case, this is rather risky. The driver may lose even his identity. And the probability is so high. Therefore, even if the upper limit is exceeded even a kilometer, punishment will follow. At best, the driver can be fined five thousand rubles. At worst, the deprivation of the rights to manage the vehicle for a period of four to six months will follow.

Examples

Asphalt compactor rides at a speed of five kilometers per hour. This slow-moving vehicle can not move faster. The vehicle is located in the area of the prohibitory sign overtaking. There is neither a triangle nor a sticker on the rink. The driver, overtaking such a vehicle, will not be punished. The skating rink is indeed a slow-moving vehicle.

The second case: on the road a tractor with a trailer slowly moves. Its speed is not more than twenty-five kilometers per hour. The vehicle is in the zone of the above sign. On the tractor there is no sticker or a triangle, which designates the vehicle as a slow-moving vehicle.

This vehicle overtakes the rushing driver driving behind. In this case, he may be fined or stripped of his rights. The reason is the technical characteristics of the tractor, which can reach speeds of up to 50 km / h. Therefore, the TS does not have the identification marks of a slow-moving vehicle.
