Information medical systems, their implementation and development

Mankind, as it exists, comes up with various opportunities to facilitate its existence and simplify life. One of such means, which frees up routine, is a medical information system (mission), which helps to coordinate the work of the healthcare system.

Information system

What do they mean by them? The information system is defined as an information processing system that works together with people, technical means and financial resources on which the provision and distribution of information depends.

Automated system

An automated system is called a complex, which consists of means of automation of human labor and the personnel that serves it. The AS performs pre-programmed functions for it. In the case of several automated systems (from two pieces), provided that the functioning of one directly depends on the other (others), they are called integrated.

Medical information systems

Different definitions of IIAs give the luminaries of science. But the most popular version is: a set of software, information, technical and organizational tools that have as their goal to automate medical processes / organizations. But for completeness of the information it is necessary to familiarize with one more. It sounds like this: MIS is a form of organization of medical processes that enable medical personnel, with the necessary technical support, to use a set of tools to collect, process, analyze, store and display medical information that relates to health and its condition for Specific person. In addition to conventional MIS, additional diagnostic and related ICs are allocated. It was not possible to designate them in clear definite groups due to the fact that there is no clear state standard that would be qualitatively processed, therefore there is no generally accepted division into various medical information systems. Classification, however, is carried out by individual specialists or groups of specialists.

Classification of information medical systems

Due to the novelty of technology there are no state-confirmed standards, so I would like to offer you this classification:

  1. Information banks of medical services. Information service for patients. It aims to provide the widest coverage of the work and service of the maximum number of people in minimum time intervals.
  2. Information and technological medical systems. The object of work is the patient, the user is the medical worker.
  3. Information and statistical medical systems. Creates informational support for the population of the served region. The division is carried out by objects and by territorial principle.
  4. Scientific and research information medical systems. The main subjects of the work are documents and objects of science. In addition, they are divided into subsystems, depending on the differences in the description objects.
  5. Information-educational and educational medical systems. Teaching provide support to those who pass the process of training and learning. Educational systems are used to assess the level of knowledge.

But besides this, MIS are divided into subsystems and have a number of additions. Thus, medical information systems, classification and purpose of which is difficult, were placed in diagnostic and related types. Additionally, a determination is made whether the system is complex or not.

Complex systems

The medical information system (MIS), which deals with both administrative and clinical functions, and for which the electronic medical record is chosen as the core, is called an integrated automated information medical system. It includes:

  1. Care for automation of accounting, personnel and economic services, office work, engineering support, material and technical supply - all that allows to automate administrative and economic activities.
  2. The system of personal registration of medical care. Maintenance of an electronic medical record, support of procedural and diagnostic subsystems with a hospital pharmacy.
  3. Reference information. This can be as a complex description of various problems, ways of treating them, symptoms, and the schedule of doctors, laboratories, their level of employment and a short file.

Diagnostic information medical systems

The task of this type is to obtain, transmit and analyze data that have been obtained as a result of certain diagnostic or laboratory studies, using special external instruments. In view of the frequency of the cases when DIMS or IIAs are established and the differences between their functional, they are considered as separate systems. But if there is an information medical system, then DIMS is considered its subsystem. Its purpose is to supplement the basic one.

Adjacent information medical systems

Modules for the purpose of special use (usually medical or economic). SIMS can include systems of personnel records or accounting, full-fledged pharmacy systems (which can provide planning, purchase, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies), systems for automating processes in specific departments. Despite the introduction of this topic in the article, in practice it is considered only as a supplement, the purpose of which is to increase the functionality.

Modern systems and their use

And finally about some medical information systems in Russia, which are used (although not very common) in medical institutions.

LEOPARD

Medical information system, built on a modular basis. It is designed to automate the processes of operation of hospitals and polyclinics. The number of modules for them is 11 for each institution. Allows the exchange of data and the central collection of necessary indicators. Supports communication between staff, collects data to inform the management of the institution in which BARS is installed. The medical information system allows to work not only with the staff, but also with the patients and facilitate their interaction with the medical institution in matters of enrollment, prescriptions, sickness cards, emergency calls. Based on the received data, it can generate reports on the status of individual patients, doctors and medical institutions.

Interin

It is an integrated information and functional environment that has united various classes of medical information systems (MIS). Support for the services of the medical institution - from financial reports and documentation to records of individual patients. It is important to integrate with medical equipment and support decision-making systems.

Emsimed

The information system of a medical institution that automates activities, schedules and optimizes patient treatment processes. It reduces the time spent on documentation, coordinates the work of doctors' offices and laboratories, optimizes the use of labor resources, organizes an operative exchange of information.
