Transgender - what is it? Transgender - who is this? Gender Identity

Transgender, or more commonly called transsexuality, is a psychological disagreement between the sex biological and social. In a literal translation, this phenomenon means "not femininity of a woman".

In simple terms, this is exactly the situation when a person psychologically feels himself creating the opposite sex, while experiencing discomfort, called gender dysphoria in medicine . That is, awareness of powerlessness to change something provokes stress, and sometimes leads to suicide.

What are the reasons for such changes?

To date, there is no clear explanation of what a transgender is, or the attraction of a representative of one sex to look like the opposite. Some experts on the basis of ten years of research put forward the theory that this factor corresponds to the structure of some parts of the brain, which to some extent differ from those in a person with a normal vision of the world. Perhaps, with the same success, we can say that the color of the eyes or the shape of the nose answers transgenderity.

We should not also make the mistake of confusing transsexuals with gays or lesbians, since a transgender is a person who has absolutely normal sexual orientation, and even more so - despising homosexuality.

Correction of sex

This measure is perhaps the only one for today that can provide a person harmony between what he feels inside and what he sees in the mirror's reflection. Despite its rather innocuous name, this is one of the most complicated surgical operations, the purpose of which is to remove the innate reproductive organs and replace them with organs of the opposite sex, which will allow a person to take his gender role in society.

In addition to the operation itself, the patient condemns himself to constant receptions of expensive hormones for the rest of his life. In addition, there is a great chance to weaken the immunity and be at risk of more terrible diseases. Nevertheless, more people are placed under the surgeon's knife in order to translate their dreams into reality without studying in detail the information about what a transgender is. But the risk that the new organs do not get accustomed to, is very large.

Effects of sex change surgery

In addition to the fact that the process of healing and healing of wounds takes a long time, people who have gone through such a procedure are often disappointed. The fact is that when signing documents in the hospital, patients are waiting for a miracle and do not understand that it is impossible to change the sex by 100%. Remains a timbre of voice, coarse or, conversely, too feminine features, shoulders, legs and much more. In order to achieve a real result, you will have to conduct dozens of plastic operations throughout the body. To this not many are ready, and in the end it turns out that after the operation such people become outcasts and occupy an incomprehensible place in society: apparently, according to the documents of a man, but in many evident signs - this is a woman ...

And after the healing of all wounds and scars comes the moment of awareness that the external similarity with a woman does not mean the possibility of becoming pregnant and bearing a child.

Pros and cons

The opinion of the public about what a transgender is, and whether it is right to be a full member of the society, are divided. Someone empathizes with such people and is ready to accept the idea that this is a joke of nature, from which a perfectly normal person suffers, who, through the mockery of the cosmos, is in the body of the opposite sex. Someone categorically disagrees with this and is fully convinced that the problem lies in promiscuity or psychological deviations. To say who is right is very difficult, because some differences in the brain are still observed, but that's what it is - deviations, while no one claims. And further. Transgenders, whose photos are presented in the article, frighten far less than criminal reports. This is also worth thinking about.

Gender Identity

In fact, this is the realization of one's belonging to a particular sex and the corresponding formation of a relation to this fact.

At the end of the 20th century, the concept of gender relations of Sandra Böhm was revised, which suggested that men and women may not necessarily correspond to the generally accepted role models, but they are entitled to combine certain qualities inherent in the opposite sex. What did this lead to? And to the fact that today the optimal androgynous model is a person who absorbed all the best from both sexes.

Of course, as they say, in the age of "courageous women and feminine men," almost every person on Earth can be called a transgender. But 50 years ago such a theory would, at least, be perceived with hostility, since gender identity was only at the stage of study.

For every parent, undoubtedly, the worst nightmare is the fact that the child will sooner or later decide to change the sex. Because of such fears and ignorance of what a transgender is, they begin to put pressure on the child's unformed psyche, trying to channel it into the right direction. But do not confuse sexual orientation with a passion for drawing or dancing with boys and doing weight lifting for girls. It is not necessary to try to diagnose the deviations independently and to develop unreasonable complexes in the offspring. If such "deviations" are present, they have already been laid in the child since birth, and it is impossible to change anything, it is possible only to aggravate the problem, turning the future member of society into a closed, unsociable hermit.

Finally

Today, the vast majority do not even react if a transgender woman is sitting next to a movie or metro. More and more people who have changed their gender, go on stage, are carried away by politics and take a firm place in the society. In families where one or both parents have changed their sex, absolutely healthy and happy children grow up, without any prerequisites for homosexuality. And fewer people see this as an unnatural fact. Transgenders, whose photos are flooded with various information resources, are becoming popular. Once, feminist movements were also perceived by society as something unnatural, people did not accept their views and beliefs. And after years the situation has changed, and today no one will call a feminist crazy or dangerous for others. No, no one calls for perceiving transgenderity as the norm or goal to which one should strive. But also yelling, resenting or pointing fingers at the sight of such a person also does not follow. It's good or bad to say it is difficult, because, as everyone knows, everything is learned in comparison.
