Hussein transport: from the most ancient days to the present

The whole history of mankind is inextricably linked with horses. In particular, the most important thing has always been horse-drawn transport, which in some regions has retained its importance to this day.

The most important role played by this type of transport on the entire continuation of the formation of our state, stretched out over vast expanses. However, what is meant by this concept? In this case, transportation is the transport of goods using the muscular strength of animals harnessed to carts. Historically, these animals are horses, but in transport, oxen, donkeys and mules were actively involved.

Horses were used not only for field work, but also for the delivery of goods from one end of the country to another. Especially depended on the transport supply, the army, which due to huge spaces was in dire need not only for the rapid delivery of orders and command orders, but also in high-quality and timely supply. It should be noted that initially horse-drawn transport was always run by coachmen, but the state so badly needed deliveries of products, that soon the peasants became actively involved in this process.

A special role in the development of this transport in our country belongs to Siberians. It was the resource-rich Siberia for its development that badly needed a fully-fledged and well-organized transport system that could cover the huge needs of a large and rapidly developing country. However, this same circumstance gave a strong impetus to the development of animal husbandry, since a large number of mounts annually left for the needs of carriers.

Particularly in demand was horse-drawn transport on the stretch between Tomsk and Irkutsk: several million poods of cargo of various types and purposes were annually transported here. Since the population of the region in those years was growing rapidly, the demand for goods from the European part of the Empire was growing at the same rate. On the contrary, in the Central region more and more tea was required, the transportation of which by the beginning of the 1900s was carried out so rapidly that by that time the weight of the tea leaf transported through the Chinese border had already exceeded a million poods!

After the Revolution, the value of horse-drawn wagons only increased, because the constant horse rides of the armies required a large number of draft animals, which could be used not only under the saddle, but also in the transportation of a large number of goods. It was at that time that the technology of fast change of horses was developed, which allowed transporting 25 centners of cargo in one wagon! Replaceable carts were taken after a few kilometers, as a result of which for a daylight coachmen managed to transport impressive volumes of useful cargo even at the present time.

However, because of the absence at that time of large equestrian plants, only peasant horses were used. This gave all transportations a strictly pronounced seasonality, as in the sowing life on the roads freezed. Their position on horse-drawn transport in our country began to be handed over only after the Great Patriotic War, when the production of trucks in the right amount was set up in the USSR.
