How to make a fireplace from cardboard with your own hands. Falsch-fireplace made of cardboard

Since childhood, after books about knights or Sherlock Holmes, the concept of "fireplace" for us has become synonymous with coziness and warmth. For those who live in their home, with money and free space, it is easy to call a team, choose a suitable fireplace and soon enjoy a living flame. But in high-rise buildings (and private houses, you know, too, are different, in some, and you can not put an extra stool), you will not be able to adapt the necessary pipe, and you will not be able to place a fireplace under the fireplace. So, to satisfy your desire for romance and the desire for comfort, it remains to make a fireplace of cardboard with your own hands.

Choose a layout

Start by deciding for yourself where exactly you would like to see your fireplace. If compared with the present, the fake has the advantage that it can be mounted anywhere and make any shape. Fireplace made of cardboard with their own hands can be put even in a corner that has nothing to force, but the fireplace harmoniously fits. Next, estimate the height and width of your product. It should not conflict with furniture in the room, it should not suppress it, but it's also not worthwhile to allow the fireplace to get lost on the background of, say, cumbersome cabinets.

Choosing the basis

In principle, a fireplace made of cardboard can be built with your own hands and only from this material. For the simplest, even a large enough box from under furniture or office equipment will do. But keep in mind that cardboard - the material is not too strong. If you want to get something more solid on the way out, spend a little and order a frame from the chipboard for the base of the fireplace. Calculate how much your size requires your sheets, what size they should be. In principle, this will be the only part of the process of creating your fireplace, which will require extraneous participation. But the "stove" will be more stable and strong.

The simplest version

The easiest way is to make a falsge-fireplace from cardboard, using a packing box. To do this, all the joints of the box are glued so that the lid does not open, and the walls do not fall off. Pencil draws the hole of your "furnace", then cut out with scissors. You can make a fireplace at your discretion. The fastest option is a self-adhesive film with a pattern for brick or wild stone. If you do not like this method, for example, you want to paint your cardboard fireplace differently, it's better to paste the box with white paper, and when the glue dries, apply the planned drawing. Even if you draw all the same bricks, they can be given a more realistic look, of course, if you have a penchant for drawing.

Pasting paper is necessary, firstly, because the packaging cardboard is usually brown, and you will not get the desired color. Secondly, on boxes there are always some inscriptions, emblems, etc. They can be seen through even a few layers of paint. However, if you want, you can replace the pasting with a primer - you can buy it in shops selling goods for artists.

The inside is important too

Inside the box, too, would not hurt to paint or paste, otherwise the fireplace made of cardboard, made by yourself, will not look very believable. You can hang the inner wall with a dark cloth, and put a bright red on the bottom.

For better stability on top of the box, you must put a "mantelpiece." For it you can use chipboard or fiberboard, only processed or pasted with the same self-adhesive wood or marble. If you do not have a suitable trim at your fingertips, you can glue several sheets of the same cardboard (for example, from another box). You will have a fireplace shelf, however, it will not add stability to the design.

Based on chipboard

If you chose the more monumental version, you will first have to bring down the frame, brought from the workshop. If in the fireplace you invented there is a podium stand, you need to start assembling the base from it. If not - the fireplace case first gets knocked off, and then its pipe.

Since it is conceived a fireplace made of cardboard with their own hands to build, we will not tell about other options for finishing (plasterboard or artificial decorative stone). For finishing, sheets of cardboard can simply be glued on the chipboard, but if you think that the cardboard is thin, you can glue its sheets (cutting out the pieces that fit the fireplace) and put it under load for the night. The next morning, a smooth and thick cardboard upholstered by the fireplace. Next, he is given the desired appearance (similar to how it was done with the box).

When we make a fireplace made of cardboard on the basis of chipboard, about its "insides" should also not be forgotten. Still, it will be illuminated from the inside, and the wooden frame will become very noticeable.

Only cardboard, but not a box

If you do not want to fiddle with plywood, and the box variant seems too simple, there is another way to make a fireplace made of cardboard. It will work even if you need an "oven" of unusual shape, for example, triangular in section or high, but flat.

First you need to make a "pattern". All the details are calculated very scrupulously, so that your decorative fireplace from the cardboard does not turn out to be a hoax. Cardboard is glued in several layers to become more rigid. Under the weight it will lie the longer the more sheets you glued together. Then, according to the made drawings, separate parts are cut out. They can be fastened together with adhesive tape, can be glued with paper strips. By the way, if you decide to stop on scotch tape, take paper, for pasting windows. To the angles of the fireplace were rectangular, at least for the time of assembly it is worth using the corners - in the building of the stores are sold plastic, they are quite suitable. And ideally in the interior of these corners it would be good to leave for good. They will not be visible, but they will definitely add strength.

Since such a fireplace is assembled from parts, the inside of it can be processed prior to assembly. Coloring or pasting cardboard is still more convenient when it is lying on a table or on the floor, and not when standing vertically. And the holes in the furnace are of different sizes; If you chose a small one, you will have to show the wonders of acrobatics for the interior decoration of the assembled fireplace.

The outer side can also be trimmed before assembly, but in this case, you may not have the same pattern for gluing the individual parts, and the gluing of the corners will be visible. So the external side will have to be painted-pasted already on the finished fireplace. Moreover, if you choose coloring, you may need to primethe surface first to hide the tape.

Lighting options

Any fireplace assumes the presence of a flame. It is clear that the cardboard does not give the opportunity to use real fire. You can buy or make a lamp that simulates a fire. As an option - draw a fire on paper, cut out the contour and attach it to the hearth. A dim lamp is placed behind it, and it turns out a very believable imitation of an open flame. The drawback of this method is that the thick paper will not be visible through the light bulb, and the thin one will fall forward or backward. The output can be a wire frame, but it will have to be bent as closely as possible along the contour, otherwise it will be clearly visible when it is visible.

You can put in the hearth of an electric candle or a garland. Both are better to buy on batteries, so as not to make a hole in the fireplace for the cord to the outlet.

With any choice of "flame" in the furnace, for reliability it is necessary to put boughs, branches or logs.

Caring for the fireplace

It remains to make sure that the fireplace cheers you as long as possible. If you chose a self-adhesive as a finishing, your "oven" will not require special care - these films are usually moisture resistant, they can be wiped with a wet cloth. But if the fireplace was painted, then for the possibility of subsequent care for it will have to cover it with varnish. Then it can be wiped from dust or accidental contamination.

Now in the evenings one can sit in front of an almost real fireplace and feel like a medieval feudal lord.
