How to insulate the floor in a wooden house from the bottom yourself?

Sex refers to the coldest part of the house. First of all, this is due to the fact that cold air descends downwards, and from under the floor it blows. Therefore, to reduce heat losses in the house and get warmer floors, they are warmed. Especially it is required to do in premises with wooden floors. If even the boards are packed tightly together, after a while they dry up, starts to run from the crevices, which leads to a loss of heat of up to 30%.

We offer to consider options, how and how to insulate the floor in a wooden house from the bottom.

Technology

To insulate the floor in a private house is quite simple. For thermal insulation can use a variety of types of insulation.

Before you insulate the floor in a wooden house from the bottom, you should consider the following parameters:

  • Conditions in which the floor will be exploited (temperature and humidity inside the house, the purpose of the room, the load provided);
  • The required height of the thermal insulation layer.

Warming the floor with your own hands is not difficult. The thermal insulation has three layers:

  • Thermal insulation;
  • Vapor barrier;
  • Flooring.

How to insulate the floor in a wooden house from below: the sequence of works

  1. Wooden logs are laid.
  2. Fixing on the logs from below are wooden boards or boards. This coating will serve as an auxiliary base on which the insulation is laid.
  3. Fitted between the lag warmer. The material should be laid tight enough, and the gaps formed between the lags and sheets should be filled with special sealant or mounting foam.
  4. The vapor-insulating material is laid on the insulation. Steam insulation is fixed on logs, all seams and gaps are sealed with metallized tape.
  5. The wooden flooring is laid and further finishing is made.

The thickness of the insulation layer is selected for each private house individually. It depends on the following indicators:

  • What type of insulation;
  • What are the climatic conditions.

Warming of the floor on the logs

Consider how to insulate the floor in a wooden house from below on the logs. This method is quite simple, but very effective, which allows to eliminate significant heat losses.

Warming the floor in a private house on the lags can be as follows.

Initially, you need to install wooden logs. Then fix the boards or boards, on which the heater will be further laid. They are hemmed from below or fixed to special bars. Further between the lags on the flooring lay a heater, hydro- and vapor barrier layer. At the final stage, floorboards are installed and the flooring is finished.

The main advantage of floor insulation on the lag is the simplicity of the work, almost everyone can cope with it, while efficiency is at the highest level.

Materials for insulation of floors

To date, the market for building materials offers a variety of different thermal insulation materials, which differ among themselves in their properties, size, application method and cost.

What is better to insulate the wooden floor? Warming can be carried out using thermal insulation materials, which are used for insulation of the roof and walls:

  • Mineral wool (stone, slag, glass);
  • Ecowool;
  • Polyurethane foam;
  • Polystyrene;
  • Isolone;
  • Penofol.

Also used materials such as expanded clay, sawdust, foam. The choice of a suitable seal depends on the different parameters, preferences and capabilities of the owners of this housing.

How to insulate the old floor with sawdust?

Sawdust belong to one of the simplest types of insulation. Their main advantage is rather low cost (in comparison with other thermal insulation materials), lightness and simplicity of backfilling, which allows to insulate even hard-to-reach and very narrow places. In addition, sawdust refers to environmentally friendly materials. They can be used not only in pure form, but also be included in various construction mixtures.

Warming of floors with mineral wool

Warming the floor in the old house can be mineral wool, which refers to one of the most common heaters. Its main advantage is absolute incombustibility. It also has:

  • Chemical and biological resistance;
  • High thermal insulation qualities.

Before you insulate the wooden floor from below with mineral wool, you should familiarize yourself with its shortcomings. These include:

  • Low mechanical strength;
  • Low vapor permeability;
  • The ability to absorb moisture well, while losing its thermal insulation qualities (for this reason, during installation, attention must be paid to the vapor barrier).

In addition, this material is not safe for the human body.

Mineral wool is produced in the form of solid plates or flexible mats. The harder side of the plates is denoted by the blue stripe. The installation must be carried out so that the marking (strip) is at the top. Plates, as a rule, are used for thermal insulation of wooden floors. Lay them in one layer.

Thermal insulation of the floor with penofol

Penofol refers to one of the new multi-layer rolled thermal insulation materials, which appeared on the construction market very recently and has not yet managed to get widespread. It consists of a heater and a special reflective layer (thin polished aluminum foil). Basis (thermal insulation material) can serve almost any insulation. The most popular is a translucent material, to which foamed polyethylene belongs .

The classic version of penofol is polyethylene foam, thermally bonded with foil. But such an option can not satisfy all the existing needs of modern construction, so at the moment there are many varieties of penofol.

Penofol Classic has a high density, due to which it is able to withstand large mechanical loads.

The material can be used both for the main heat, steam and waterproofing, and as an auxiliary insulation, in combination with another heater.

Due to the small thickness and the presence of foil, installation is simple, easy and fast. Heat insulation can be laid on the floor surface by butt or overlap. Formed joints are sealed with a metallic tape. The use of foam foam eliminates the need for steam and waterproofing. This function is performed by aluminum foil.

Warming of the floor with polystyrene (foam)

Styrofoam (expanded polystyrene) also occupies a leading place among heat-insulating materials. This is due to the presence of a number of advantages and a minimum of shortcomings in the material. The insulation has a low thermal conductivity and vapor permeability, high strength, fire resistance, biological and chemical resistance. Thanks to the cellular structure, the insulation is durable and very effective as a thermal insulation.

Deficiency of expanded polystyrene - absorbency of moisture, because of what certain of its properties are lost.

Warming of the floor with an eco-wool

Ecowool is made of natural materials. On 75% it consists of paper and 25% - from natural special additives. It is a mixture of cellulose, and the binding components in it are boric acid and antiseptic lignin. Due to this composition, ecowool is absolutely safe for humans, and is also environmentally friendly.

Its advantages include low thermal conductivity, fire safety (the material does not burn, but only smolder), the ability to restore heat insulation properties after wetting. To disadvantages, the cost is higher than that of other heaters.

How to properly insulate the floor with wooden ecowool? It is applied in various ways:

  1. Manual. The material is laid between the lags (bars) on boards or shields, sewn from below. Ecowool should be laid tightly, and place the docking with a mounting foam.
  2. Mechanical. In this case, mobile blowing machines are used, through which a heater is fed through a hose under pressure.

Insulation insulation

Izolon is a heat-insulating material made of foamed polyethylene foam. The insulation was designed taking into account the current requirements for thermal insulation. Due to this, its use has several advantages.

First of all, it should be noted a small thickness of material, which ranges from 2 to 10 mm. The thermal conductivity does not increase. Isolon with a thickness of 1 centimeter for thermal conductivity is equal to the brickwork.

Izolon does not get wet due to foam polyethylene. The material is durable, does not rot, protects from steam and moisture. The heater is environmentally safe, it can be used in any premises. Such material can be used for both basic and auxiliary thermal insulation. Isolon when processing wooden floors serves not only as a heater, but also plays the role of noise insulation, as it can absorb sounds. Another advantage of this material is its small thickness, which saves space.

Thermal insulation of the floor with polyurethane foam

Polyurethane foam has a cellular structure, in which the pores are filled with insulating gases and air, which allows to ensure low thermal conductivity and at the same time a small weight of the material. Therefore, polyurethane foam is considered one of the best thermal insulation materials. Its strengths include resistance to alkalis and acids, to decay, mold damage.

How to insulate the wooden floor from below with polyurethane foam? The material is applied to the surface by spraying, for which purpose special equipment is used. This heater is quite well adheres to different materials, so it can be used for thermal insulation of any surfaces. This method allows to warm the surface of absolutely different shape and complexity, repeating with accuracy all contours and thus not forming joints. Due to the low moisture absorption coefficient, there is no need for a vapor barrier layer device.

Warming of the floor is an important stage in keeping the heat and maintaining a favorable atmosphere in the house.

If you are thinking how to insulate an old wooden floor and are going to make a purchase of a material, you need to take into account all the factors, determine the priorities, and only after that make the final choice.
