How to draw a butterfly in a pencil step by step: a master class

You can diversify your leisure by drawing. Learn how to paint beautifully with a pencil will help the master's advice. Carefully reading the instructions and performing step-by-step instructions given, any even an aspiring artist can easily cope with the task. And the output will be a decent drawing.

Variety of butterflies

Scientists today described about 200 thousand (!) Species of butterflies. Outwardly they are all very different.

It affects the variety of sizes, body shapes and wings, colors. Nature painted the butterflies with a striking fantasy, using all kinds of colors, shades and their combinations, strict geometric shapes and intricate patterns. Therefore, the painter can safely include the imagination "to the fullest" and paint his butterfly as you please. The main thing is colorful and nice to the eye!

But there is one important feature that the artist must take into account, in order to know how to beautifully draw a butterfly. This is unusual, but the wings of butterflies are absolutely symmetrical in size and are the same in color - all the patterns are exactly, to the smallest detail repeated on each winglet. Therefore, in the figure, we must try to decorate both wings with the same uniform ornaments in shape and color.

How to draw a butterfly in pencil step by step

We found out that the color of a butterfly is a matter of taste, and, given the incredible variety of possible colors, there is no point in teaching it (there can be infinitely many examples). Therefore, for an artist, it is important first of all to know how to draw a butterfly with a pencil. For a beginner master, it will be correct to study the technique of the drawing step by step, step by step.

The simplest and the basis of all future drawings is a butterfly with open wings

We do not insist that the proposed scheme of drawing is final. But in the process of mastering the skills, how to stage a butterfly in a pencil step by step, it will certainly give a solid foundation and will become a good helper for you.

Step 1. Since both sides of the butterfly are exactly the same, let's look at the geometry. Construct a rectangle. Line the rectangle into parts:

  • Directly divide the rectangle equally vertically;
  • When dividing a straight line horizontally, the upper part of the rectangle needs to be made a little narrower than the bottom;
  • Through the intersection point of the horizontal and vertical lines, draw two lines from corner to corner (as shown in the picture).
  • Since the straight line in the horizontal does not divide the rectangle into 2 equal parts (the upper one is narrower already), then the diagonal lines do not turn out straight, but will be slightly curved.

Step 2. At the heart of the drawing we have 4 rectangles. Now we will work with 2 lower ones. We divide their bases into 6 equal parts. Left and right note 2/6 of the part.

We connect the straight lines with the corresponding upper corners of the large (basic) rectangle (as shown in the picture). Have received an inverted trapezoid.

The basis for the lesson is how to draw a butterfly in stages, ready.

Drawing the contours of the wings

Step 3. Draw the upper edge of the wings with a curved line from the point of intersection of the vertical and horizontal lines of the main rectangle. The lateral edge of the wings form along the upper part of the sides of the trapezium.

The lower wings of the butterfly also draw curved lines of the shape we need - in the form of a drop of water, a rose petal or whatever you like. You can diversify the ovals of the lower wings with additions in the form of spurs (similar wings with spurs at the machaon).

Step 4. Draw the butterfly's body. To do this, we draw a long, very narrow oval between the wings. We divide it into 3 sections. The upper section should be slightly thickened - it's the head, the two lower parts of the trunk to leave narrow - it's the abdomen. Drew the eyes and antennae antennae. We do not draw the legs, since they are not visible in this position.

Finding out step by step how to stage a butterfly in a pencil step by step, we reached the finish line. According to the sketch it is already easy to find out what kind of insect it is. Now our task is to make a complete drawing from the outline.

We give the butterfly a naturalness

Step 5, the final. The eraser removes all auxiliary lines. The edge of the wings at the discretion of the artist can be given a smooth or crenate shape. Inside the wings (along the entire length) with hardly noticeable curved lines to draw streaks. Try to make them symmetrical. Add a slight shadow between the wings near the center of the body. The edges of the wings are slightly darkened.

Add ornaments on the wings. To make them the most identical, each element of the pattern is first drawn on one, and then immediately on the second wing. If you decorate one wing at once, then it is difficult to repeat in detail the virtuosic drawing on the second wing. Boldly decorate the wings of various geometric figures, curlicues, squiggles, divorces and azhudami.

Conclusion

If you did everything according to the instructions, then you should get a butterfly as in the last figure. Now you know how to stage a butterfly in a pencil step by step, and you will be able to experiment with the sizes, shapes and color of this amazing insect. Good luck!
