How to choose tablets against diarrhea

In a healthy person, 100 to 300 grams of bowel movements are excreted per day through the intestine. The specific value depends on the composition of the food and its digestibility. Under diarrhea (diarrhea) is understood as an increase in the total number, and a change in the consistency of the stool. In the first and second cases, different pills are prescribed for diarrhea.

Common to any type of diarrhea is an increase in the amount of water in the stool from 60% to 90%. An increase in the total mass of the stool is characteristic of patients with impaired absorption of nutrients. But it also happens that the intestinal motility is disrupted - the stool is frequent, liquid, but in the total mass does not exceed the norm. Thus, an analysis of the characteristics of the course of diarrhea can help diagnose and choose the right pill for diarrhea.

In the intestine, up to 2 liters of water per day falls, and only 100-150 ml is excreted with feces. Therefore, a slight change in the amount of water in the stool leads to a serious change in its consistency. And the amount of this fluid can affect a lot of factors. Therefore, it is risky to choose the medicine yourself without consulting a doctor who correctly determines what to treat diarrhea in a particular case. You can miss a serious illness, which, if not started on time treatment, will lead to serious complications.

All tablets against diarrhea can be divided into several groups, differently affecting the walls of the intestine.

Astringents. Their minus is that they in no way affect the cause of diarrhea. But they act immediately as they enter the intestine. These are usually preparations based on herbs, for example "Tanalbin" - a powder of dark brown color.

Adsorbents. The most famous and available from this group is activated charcoal - black powder without color and odor. Smekta and polyphepan are less effective. Preparations of a new generation of adsorbents with various additives have an effect that is tens of times greater than that of activated carbon, although they are more expensive. The general property of drugs in this group is the ability to absorb toxins and other harmful substances, which allows them to be used in poisoning.

Narcotic analgesics. Reduce the reflex reduction of the walls of the intestinal tract. The drugs of this group include, for example, imodium.

Preparations of magnesium. White powders, which have neither taste nor smell, get into the body, produce hydrogen peroxide, which acts as a strong oxidant for many toxins.

Phenylsalicylate. Refers to a few obsolete and relatively weak drugs, used for problems with the intestines, but it has no side effect and, what is very important, does not cause dysbiosis.

Enteroseptol. It belongs to the group of antimicrobials, it helps against diarrhea caused by protozoa. Has side effects. A similar action is possessed by mexamens - tablets against diarrhea, which can also be used for the prevention of intestinal disorders.

Another drug that absorbs into its pores is not only the products of vital activity, toxins, but the viruses themselves are cholestyramine. It is a resin with a high absorption capacity.

Diarrhea is dangerous, mainly, dehydration of the body. With dehydration, a number of unpleasant and dangerous symptoms can occur: lowering blood pressure and tachycardia (due to loss of potassium), loss of calcium by the body, which can cause seizures. The skin becomes dry and vulnerable and can not properly perform the functions assigned to it.

If the weight of feces has increased significantly, it is very fluid, and the symptoms do not go away for several days, you need to see a doctor without delay. Only the doctor will write out the diarrhea from the diarrhea, which will have the optimum effect and eliminate not only the visible symptoms, but also the cause of the illness.
