How to choose a cotton mattress?

If you need to equip a bed without significant expenses, then it is better to pay attention to the cotton mattresses. They are acquired by medical institutions, military units, rescue services. People, as a rule, buy such mattresses for cottages or houses for the home of builders, housekeepers. They stop their attention in those cases when it is not possible or necessary to spend money on more expensive options. That is why, despite the great variety of orthopedic products made of latex, coconut, buckwheat fibers, with springs and without them, the demand for cheap cotton mattresses does not fall.

When choosing these products, do not rely solely on price. After all, in the production of the cheapest options, the so-called regenerated fibers are used. These include various remains from the sewing industry (yarn, fabric, yarn), which are divided into separate strings. With the help of special processing methods they are transformed into a homogeneous soft mass, which is used as a filler. Please note that the price of a conventional cotton mattress is approximately 2 times higher than that of a product from regenerated fibers. This is due to the different cost of the filler used. Also it is necessary to take into account that cheaper variants will quickly become unusable, their service life is limited.

If you still want a cheap cotton mattress made from sewage production waste, then note that it can be cotton, half-woolen, mixed and synthetic, depending on what materials are made of. If the first 2 options can be used in institutions where the mattresses are processed in an autoclave, the latter are suitable only for home use. As a rule, they are acquired for temporary workers and discarded after their departure. By the way, do not be surprised if through the lining you see a colored filler, in products from the regenerated fiber it can be any color.

In those cases, when you get a cotton mattress for yourself, it is better to choose more expensive variants from good sewing cotton or from cotton fiber. Pay attention also to the cover: it should be made of fabrics with a density of at least 100 g / m 2 . They include polikotton, calico or teak. But remember, no matter what the filler, the cotton mattress will never be durable. If there is discomfort during sleep, it is better to replace it immediately. But if you will properly care for him and monitor his condition, then you will have a comfortable and useful product for the spine.

When using wadded mattresses, do not forget to turn them over periodically, to chip and clean with a conventional vacuum cleaner or steam cleaner, which, incidentally, also carries out disinfection. Do not forget, after such a procedure, the mattress should be dried a little, so that the cotton wool does not fall off the steam.

Modern textile enterprises make different cotton mattresses. You can choose their sizes : on sale you can find both options for baby cots 60 * 120 cm, and large double products, the length and width of which can reach 2.5 m. The most popular are single or sesquial mattresses that are used in various Medical or military institutions. The thickness of these products for adults is usually 7 cm, for children varies from 5 to 6 cm.
