Testicular cancer is a disease in which in testicles (testicles, paired sex glands, which produce sex cells and hormones).

According to statistics, about fifty thousand people fall ill with testicular cancer each year. Accordingly, this tumor is rare. In addition, it is worth noting that this disease occurs only in people over forty. Nevertheless, this does not mean at all that it is worth neglecting this disease and if there are signs of it, it is worthwhile to turn to a qualified specialist.

Currently, there are several factors known to provoke the development of testicular cancer:

  • Congenital diseases of the kidneys (for example, doubling of the ureter, double kidney), testicles (varicocele, hippopathy, testicular atrophy), penis. In addition, an inguinal hernia may increase the risk of testicular cancer;
  • Infertility also increases the likelihood of formation of intra-cellular neoplasia, which eventually can develop into penetrating testicular cancer;
  • Presence of relatives of cancerous testicles;
  • Undescission of the testicle in the scrotum (cryptorchidism), which can be either one-sided (the probability of cancer increases fivefold), and bilateral (the likelihood of cancer increases tenfold);
  • Lack of physical activity;
  • Toxicosis of pregnant women, which develops due to prolonged use of estrogens or hypersecretion of estrogen, may increase the risk of developing testicular cancer in a newborn.

With the development of testicular cancer, the following symptoms can occur:

  • Feeling of heaviness and pain in the area of the scrotum and abdomen;
  • Appearance of neoplasms in the scrotum;
  • Enlarged lymph nodes in the groin area.

To date, in approximately 90% of cases of development, a tumor such as testicular cancer, doctors deal with tumors based on germ cells that produce sperm. Specialists distinguish two types of germinogenic formations:

  1. Seminomas - about sixty percent of all germinogenic tumors;
  2. Neseminomy - about forty percent of germinogenic tumors.

Seminoma of the testicle looks like a dense lobular node and divides into two main groups:

  1. Non-germinative seminoma - appears from the stroma of the testicle (leidigoma, sertolomy, sarcoma);
  2. The germinal testis semenoma - appears from epithelial tissues (teratoblastoma, chorionepithelioma, seminoma, embryonic cancer, etc.);

With these types of tumors metastases appear, which primarily affect the lymph nodes.

Nesominoma usually occurs between the ages of twenty and thirty. The varieties of this tumor include teratoma, choriocarcinoma, fetal cancer, a tumor of the gallbladder. With this type of malignant formation, metastases can penetrate both into the lymph nodes and into the lungs.

Treatment of testicular cancer in Israel primarily requires a high-quality diagnostic course that involves the following activities:

  1. Inspection of the testicles and lymph nodes with palpation;
  2. Laboratory tests of blood and urine (biochemical analysis, detection of oncomarkers, etc.);
  3. Ultrasound of the testicles and scrotum;
  4. Angiography;
  5. Positron Emission Tomography;
  6. CT scan;
  7. Magnetic resonance imaging.
