How does the vehicle size determine its class?
The vehicle's overall dimensions help to allocate similar vehicles and group them into several classes. However, such a structure is not of an international nature. In the world there are three main classifications of cars: European, Japanese and American.
Of course, the European classification also takes into account the cost of the car, and a set of installed options. In this regard, each classification can be considered conditional, and the represented boundaries between segments are rather blurred. Consider the European structure in more detail. It distinguishes 6 major groups and 3 additional groups, which include cars that do not belong to any other segment.
Class A
Group of very small vehicles. The dimensions of the car of this group do not exceed 3.6 meters in length and 1.6 meters in width. To this category, you can safely include small cars that are designed for tight city streets. Due to their small size, they offer good economy and wide parking possibilities.
Class B
The dimensions of the car of this group are somewhat larger: 3.6-3.9 m in length and 1.5-1.7 m in width. A popular type of machine with an engine capacity rarely exceeding 1.6 liters.
Representatives of this segment are universal - relatively compact and quite roomy. Have the widest range of dynamic and running characteristics.
Class D
For the most part, these are family cars, presented in almost all types of bodywork. They feature a spacious interior and a large amount of trunk.
Class E
Luxury cars that are fairly relevant to the business class. The replenishment of models of this category is mainly engaged in luxury car manufacturers.
Class F
The representative class of cars, which is characterized by a huge number of options, a spacious comfortable lounge and a total length of more than 5 meters.
Additional classes (S, M, J) include sports cars, minivans and cars with increased cross-country capability, respectively.
