How are the Muslim temples

Muslim temples are called mosques, and they are built according to certain rules. First, the building should be oriented strictly to the East, that is, to the sacred place for all Muslims - Mecca. Secondly, an obligatory element of any mosque is a minaret - a high and narrow extension of the most often cylindrical or rectangular shape. Such architectural elements in the mosque can be from one to nine. It is from this room that the muezzin calls on believers to pray.

Almost all Muslim churches are equipped with a courtyard. Here, according to tradition, a fountain, a well or any device intended for ablutions should be arranged. According to Muslim customs, it is not allowed to enter the church in a dirty way to pray. There are also farm buildings in the yard. Madrasah differs from the mosque in that in the courtyard can be equipped rooms for seminarians. Of course, modern temples have a rather modest architecture. However, if you look at the old magnificent Muslim mosques, you can see that before the yards were often updated with columns, even arranged around the perimeter of the gallery. The building of the mosque is crowned with a dome decorated with a crescent moon.

These are the features of the Muslim temple in terms of exterior. Inside, the building is divided in our time into two halves - male and female. On the eastern wall of the prayer room, a special niche is compulsorily arranged. To the right of it is a special pulpit with which the Imam reads his sermons to the believers. During prayer, old people stand closest to him. Behind them are middle-aged people. And in the very last ranks - youth.

Images of people and animals in Islam are prohibited. Therefore, of course, there are no icons in the prayer room or anywhere else. Nowadays, walls are usually decorated with Arabic characters - lines from the Koran. Very often for the design of mosques, fractal or floral ornaments are also used . They can be executed both outside the building and inside. Muslim churches are usually decorated in traditional blue and red colors. In addition, in the ornaments, white and golden impregnations can often be observed.

A wonderful example of Islamic architecture can be considered, for example, the Taj Mahal in Agra. This is a very beautiful building, which is considered a worldwide pearl of culture. This Muslim temple is built, the photo of which you can see at the very top of the page, Shah Jahad in honor of his wife. The woman was called Mumtaz-Mahal (hence the slightly altered name of the temple), and she died during childbirth. In the temple there are two tombs - the wife of the Shah and his own.

The second photo shows the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, located in Istanbul. A distinctive feature of the Turkish Muslim temples can be called a special form of the dome - more slippery than in the mosques of other countries. In the third photo - Sultan Ahmet's mosque from the inside. Quite often Muslims adapted themselves to the temples of the church of conquered peoples. An example of this can serve as the most significant monument of early Christian culture - Sofia Constantinople, to which the Turks were attached minarets.

Thus, the distinctive feature of such buildings as Muslim temples, you can call a dome and the presence of a courtyard. In addition, the required architectural elements are the minarets, mihrab and the pulpit.
