Hong Kong is a country or a capital?

Many of us ask the question: "Hong Kong - the country or the capital of a state?" What is it? A beautiful city or a huge territorial district? If you ask the residents of Hong Kong themselves , they will confidently answer: "Capital!" After all, Hong Kong is the capital of Asian culture and cinema, Asian fashion, economy and in general the European metropolis in the center of Asia.

However, Hong Kong has never been the capital of any state. In general, until 1842, until this amazing place was chosen by the British, it was in fact nothing. These were groups of islands on which small fishing villages huddled. One of them was called "Hong Kong." The country in whose territory it was located is the Great Chinese Empire. However, England needed a convenient place to trade opium with China. And it was in this place that the British decided to build their own trading port. They rented Hong Kong and all the surrounding mainland China. Thus, the former fishing village turned into a real gem of the British Empire.

China was developing rapidly, and the UK did not have the opportunity to extend the lease of Hong Kong. However, its return to China caused a complete imbalance - China, soaked through with communism, and capitalist Hong Kong absolutely did not approach each other. China demanded full control over the media, politics and minds of citizens, and the city is accustomed to live freely and in a European way, democratically, acting only by its standards. So the idea of a transitional principle arose. Since 1997, and so far, Hong Kong on the map and in the world community has turned into the Special Administrative Region of China. At the same time, having received relative internal economic and political freedom, he lost his foreign policy.

Many mistakenly still believe that Hong Kong is a city. But this is not so. Hong Kong is the unification of the regions of China. Therefore, the question of whether Hong Kong is a country or a city is absolutely incorrect. He is like neither that nor the other, and all together. It is unique and unique.

Today, Hong Kong is a striking mixture of all the achievements of the West and the unique color of the East. Here, the charming colonial mansions adjoin the uplifting skyscrapers. During the construction of many buildings, the principles of the teaching of feng shui were used. For example, the facades are lined with mirror coatings to scare off evil spirits. Or the corners of buildings: their mowing or rounding means friendliness and protection from bad influence.

By the way, the name "Hong Kong" is translated as "a fragrant port". In this regard, the main motif of the city's landscape is water and greens. Hong Kong is really green and fragrant. Plants here around, both in the city itself, and in the famous Victoria Park. It is here that Victoria Peak is the highest point of the entire island of Hong Kong (552 meters above sea level).

Hong Kong is a country of contrasts. It combines a variety of cultures, spirituality, beliefs and architectural styles. Hong Kong - "Asian New York", a former colony of Britain, but above all, it is the heritage of the great Chinese civilization, which keeps its deep traditions, which are passed from generation to generation.
