What is needed?

To create a mask from latex, you will need special materials that you can buy in a thematic store or order online, with delivery to the house or to the post office. Unfortunately, not all cities can easily find some devices to work with such unusual material. So, to make masks, latex patches and other attributes for the image, you will need:

• High-quality liquid latex.
• Special forms for masks.
• Mannequin head.
• Brushes of different sizes.
• Foam Fonts.
• Clean gauze or bandage.
• Scissors.
• Acrylic paints.
• PVA glue.

And, of course, some skill is useful. From the first time, a latex realistic mask may not work, so we recommend practicing on small forms of animals or fruits.

Separately, I want to focus on time. The fact is that latex dries quite a long time, and it will have to be applied in several layers. Therefore, plan in advance the manufacture of a mask. Latex look much more realistic and they are more comfortable to use than plastic ones. But also make them more difficult.

How to do?

• Prepare from a gypsum or a polymeric clay the form. If you have a ready mannequin for the mask, place it on a flat surface and secure it to avoid damage.
• Cut the bandage or gauze and glue them with glue PVA on those areas that need support. Usually this is the so-called T-zone of the face and the area of cheekbones and cheeks. It is necessary, that the ready mask kept the form and did not creep.
• After the glue dries, gently sponge the first layer of liquid latex onto the mold. Do not make it too fat. First, so it will be longer to freeze, and secondly, it can flow and spoil all the work.
• After the latex has dried, use a brush to gently apply a second coat and wait until it is completely solidified. In total, these layers need to create 10 pieces, alternately adding a bandage to the right places.
• When the mask is completely ready, sprinkle it abundantly with talc or baby powder, so that it does not stick together.
• Gently pry the finished product and remove it from the mold.
• Now you can start painting the resulting mask. Latex work requires thorough cleaning of the surface before applying paints.
• Add a small amount of acrylic paints to the liquid latex and use a brush to paint the mask.
• Allow the material to freeze well.

Your mask is ready. It remains only to try it on and create an anchorage, if, of course, you did not make it solid.

The following simple tips will help you to retain the appearance of the mask for a long time. Latex products are finicky in storage and processing.

• Do not regret talcum powder. It is necessary that the latex product does not stick to the form and working surfaces.
• To accelerate the process of solidification, you can dry the layers with a hair dryer.
• If possible, get castor make-up instead of acrylic paints.
• To keep the mask long, store it with a cloth or paper.
• Be sure to thoroughly wash the product with soap and dry before storing.
