Highscreen Spider: review of the model, feedback from customers and experts

Over the past few years, Highscreen has significantly updated its range of models. And every new smartphone comes with some kind of original zest. Take, for example, the Boost 2 SE gadget, which still holds a leading position in the segment of long-playing models.

The subject of today's review is the Highscreen Spider smartphone. Let's try to figure out what is the highlight of this gadget, and denote all its advantages along with shortcomings, taking into account the opinions of experts and reviews of ordinary users.

The main feature of the "Spyder" was the support of networks of the fourth generation (LTE). In general, the Spider model is a middle-class gadget with a price tag of 11,000 rubles, a five-inch screen, a quad-core processor and a gigabyte of RAM.

Judging by the characteristics, the offer looks more or less interesting, but how much it corresponds to its price tag, let's try to find out in the review Highscreen Spider LTE Black. Feedback about the model is very flattering with a total score from users on 4.0 out of 5.

Appearance and construction

The gadget goes only in black scale, and the company does not yet provide other color solutions. The appearance of the device is standardized - a rectangle with bevelled corners, and there are no any design tricks in the Highscreen Spider model.

Dimensions:

  • Height - 145 mm;
  • Width - 72 mm;
  • Thickness - 9 mm;
  • Weight 165 g.

Because of the wide framework on the sides of the smartphone, the device looks slightly larger than other smartphones with a similar diagonal. It's not easy to call it, and where such a mass is, it's not entirely clear. If the whole thing is in the battery, the question would be removed, but given that the gadget battery only 2000 mAh, you have to sin on the design features of the device. Nevertheless, the Highscreen Spider lies well in the hand without any bends or inconveniences - the developers even went too far with the weight, but distributed it evenly throughout the body.

The case of the device is made of matte plastic, so you can not worry that as you use the smartphone will abundantly collect scratches and prints. If you do not work as a welder and your hobby is not molded from clay, then you can use a gadget altogether without a cover.

The back of the case is covered with a special coating soft-touch, so the device does not slip out of the hands and is pleasant to the touch.

Build quality

The overall quality of the assembly is at a high level: the gaps are minimal, the details are adjusted one to one, creaks, backlashes and crunches were not seen on the Highscreen Spider. Customer feedback notes a positive reaction to the assembly of the model: dust is not packed in the slot, because they do not exist, the lid is removed without any problems and is also installed in place, fingerprints can be left, but rather difficult.

Some owners of the smartphone note the problems with the management of one hand due to the size of the device, but after several weeks of operation, the hands get used to the device, and the discomfort is reduced to zero.

At the top of the Highscreen Spider, on the end, is a headphone jack, just below - a camera with an LED flash. In the lower part is a microphone, and on the back - the main control keys of the device. The cover of the smartphone is removed without problems, and to gain access to the battery and SIM card slots, it will not be necessary to exert any special efforts.

Display

Highscreen Spider 5 is equipped with a 5-inch touch screen with an IPS-matrix, supporting a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The density of pixels is quite high and is 294 ppi, therefore it is impossible to see separate points even from a very close distance. If you work with the device at a recommended distance of 30-40 cm, then the picture looks holistic and bright.

The device's touch screen can support up to five simultaneous touch points. The sensitivity of the display is good, so the response to touch is correct in more than 90% of cases. The gadget has good viewing angles, which is characteristic of the entire line of Highscreen Spider Black. User reviews note small problems with automatic brightness adjustment, sinning on the sensor in the stock firmware, but the manufacturer has already released a fix in the 4.4x updates.

In bright and sunny weather, there may be problems with displaying the display, due to the low level of maximum brightness. The contrast of the device allows you to work comfortably with a gadget in a dark room. The indicator is at the level of 900: 1 with a wide adjustment range, which is quite good for an inexpensive Highscreen Spider.

The review of color channels revealed positive dynamics and stability, although the indicators do not reach the sRGB standard. This defect is almost impossible to notice by eye, especially since the uniformity of the screen illumination excludes any questions on overexposure.

Performance

The device is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 processor with a maximum clock speed of 1.2 GHz and 8 GB of RAM. Accelerator Adreno 305 with one gigabyte of memory is responsible for the graphic component.

Due to its technical characteristics, the smartphone is able to meet the requirements of the average user. OS speed and menu navigation works without questions, page turning and desktop change is not slow. Web surfing also does not cause any difficulties. If you do not open more than 8-10 tabs at the same time, then the browser easily copes with the load without twitching and extra time to switch between tabs.

Games

As for gaming applications, the gadget shows quite expected results. With small and casual games, there were no problems at all: applications quickly start and are installed almost instantly. With more "heavy" games Smartphone Highscreen Spider (reviews and results were investigated by us on PlayMarket `e) proved to be more or less tolerable. Modern games go without delay and sagging on the FPS, but at low graphics settings. At maximum settings, there are noticeable delays and discomfort.

Multimedia

As a multimedia support, the smartphone has a standard audio player without any chips or other functionality. Conversational speaker has a very good sound quality without explicit claims: the speaker's hearing is excellent, the location is convenient, the "talking angle" is not necessary to catch.

The volume and characteristics of the main dynamics are very mediocre and stretch to an average with a great stretch: an obvious deficit of bass is noticed, but hoarseness and metallic shades are more than enough.

The headphones that come with the device are only suitable as a headset, and they are not suitable for watching movies or listening to music. Alternatively, you can use third-party headphones or even connect speakers.

Video player, which is installed by default, in the old tradition of "Android" does not play formats flv and mkv, so it's better to immediately install additional software in the form of any powerful player.

Autonomous work and battery

Highscreen Spider has a standard battery capacity of 2000 mAh. Charges the device with a regular device in about two and a half hours. If you use the USB interface for charging, 2.0 will fill the battery in three hours, and 3.0 in two hours.

If you use the "spider" only as a phone, charging is enough for an average of a day or so, music with headphones will discharge the device for a day, and without them for five hours. You can watch video files continuously for no more than four hours, and you can play games within three hours. Numerous user reviews that they do not have enough time to work the device, even before the evening recharging, for some reason are not heard by the company, and the developer continues to equip his models with low-capacity batteries.

Camera

The smartphone is equipped with two types of cameras: front and main with a resolution of 8 megapixels. To work the first of any questions do not arise - the interlocutor is clearly visible in the video chats and is easily recognizable, but the main camera, judging by the reviews, has some drawbacks.

If the quality of photos taken in good weather can still be reconciled, then it is difficult to make problems in video shooting. Even if you keep the device still in your hands, autofocus is constantly lost, so talking about the shooting in a dynamic state is not necessary at all.

Summarizing

In general, the smartphone "Spider" is a competitive, but very ambiguous product. One of its main advantages is stable operation in 4G-networks. Here you can also include a good design, tangible performance and a quality HD display.

Therefore, if you are outside the coverage area of G networks or you do not need LTE at all, you can find a more interesting device with similar characteristics and price tag from the same manufacturer (Alpha R, Thor or Boost 2 SE).

Pros:

  • LTE and GLONASS networks;
  • HD-display and viewing angles;
  • build quality;
  • performance.

Minuses:

  • Low battery capacity;
  • The quality of the main camera does not allow you to shoot a decent video.
