This is one of the little-known images of the Virgin, whose celebration of the day takes place in August - 15 (28). The story of his appearance is extraordinary, serving as a proof of the infinity of God's mercy and love for people. The icon "The addition of the mind" was written in the 17th century by a Moscow artist. It happened after the split of the Orthodox Church into the Old Believers and the new church. Representatives of both directions argued in their books that they were right and vilified opponents in every possible way. The artist, as an inquisitive and deeply religious person, wanted to understand how right both sides are. As a result, he recounted so many books that he lost his mind from stress.

The image of the miraculous

How does the icon "Adding the mind" relate to this? Straight! In rare moments of enlightenment, the artist prayed with tears and lamentations of the Mother of God to restore his mind, to help him to know the truth. And one day Maria appeared to him and punished her to draw it in the form in which the painter sees it. With zeal and assiduity, he began to work. But, since cloudiness was on him often, he forgot the vision. And again he was idly idle in pleading and bowing. Once again the Mother of God came to him and guided him. And so it was until then, until the icon "Addition of the mind" was not complete. Already before her prayed the artist. And the mind returned to him, even lighter and sharper than before. And the icon itself is now in the city of Rybinsk, in the Transfiguration Cathedral. There is a list with her and in one of the Moscow churches.

The icon of the Mother of God "Adding Mind" is quite unusual and goes beyond traditional Russian iconography. Her image is deeply symbolic, but difficult to understand by the uninitiated. Mother and Baby are covered with bell-shaped sweats, decorated with crosses. This decoration means sorrow and holiness. The figures are in front of the entrance to heaven, next to the clouds are angels with lamps. This is the light of truth, truth, reason. And the buildings below represent the holy city of Jerusalem, only not earthly, but heavenly.
