Harmoniously selected actors. "Terminator: Let the Savior Come"

A large-scale military film with battles on the water, on land and in the air, with computer Schwarzenegger and all sorts of terminators - this is how the actors took part in the filming of the fourth part of the cult franchise. "Terminator: The Savior Comes" has all the necessary components: a tightly linked script, powerful mythology, impressive special effects and a harmonious cast.

The fourth part of the saga

The two previous episodes of the deadly war between humanity and machines, filmed by James Cameron, have long become cultic and textbook, they are deservedly considered the best parts of the franchise. But their intense deadly confrontation, a crazy drive were buried by the completely unsuccessful third episode of "The Rise of the Machines." Directed by producer Jonathan Mostow created with the idea of something unimaginable, even the actors who took part in the shoot agreed to this. "Terminator: The Savior Comes" - the fourth episode of the saga - was shot by the successor to Mostow and Cameron, directed by McGee, familiar to the viewer of Charlie's Angels. His gloomy offspring from the near future about the battle of people and machines causes nostalgia for the former "Terminator" and prompts the viewer to feel sympathy for the new. In fact, McGee in the most urgent manner restarted the saga - this was felt by the audience and critics, and the actors involved in the project. "Terminator: Let the Savior Come" was published under the slogan: "The Beginning of the End."

Plot

The narrative narrative unfolds in 2003. Dr Serena Kogan (Helena Bonham Carnert) is sent to the prisoner and sentenced to death by Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington). She asks the main character to give her mortal body for medical experiments. A year after the events described, SkyNet initiates a third world war, which kills almost the entire human civilization. In 2018, intelligent cyborgs destroy the survivors. At this time, Marcus regains consciousness, not understanding why he was still alive. Discouraged by what is happening around, he almost becomes a victim of the cyborg, but young Kyle Reeves (Anton Yelchin) manages to save him. The teenager introduces Marcus into the course of events, telling not only about the war, but also about the resistance movement led by the legendary John Connor (Christian Bale). Marcus decides to find Connor, not suspecting that he is a pawn in the struggle of machines and people.

Preparation

One of the merits of the director is a chic casting of actors. McGe gathered an excellent acting team, perfectly in harmony with the ideas of contemporaries about the near future of mankind. For a better understanding of the atmosphere of the project and a complete immersion in the dismal world of the picture, the director necessarily compelled to read the opuses of Cormac McCarthy "The Road" and "Do Androids Electro Players" Philip Dick. And the whole crew had to read, including all the actors involved. "Terminator: Let the savior come" could have been different if the creators had moved, as planned, the film director's and cast members from the third part unchanged. Producers managed to get the consent of Claire Danes, Nick Stahl and Jonathan Mostow. But in 2007 there were fundamental changes in the plans. So, the director was McGee, the performer of the role of Connor - Christian Bale, known for the blockbuster "Batman: The Beginning". On the urgent recommendations of D. Cameron for the role of one of the central characters was invited to the little-known Australian actor S. Worthington (later he will become the main actor in the "Avatar").

Two role-icons

Sometimes, when you follow the game of Christian Bale, it seems that John will spread his wings and rush into the skies like Batman-bat. Probably, it was very difficult to play two canonical role-icons, but the actor coped with the task quite successfully. The characters of the commander-in-chief (Michael Ironside) and Kyle Riza, played by Anton Yelchin, succeeded in glory. Young, at that time a 19-year-old, American actor of Russian descent, always dreamed of acting in art-house film projects, but because of his outstanding texture and indicative efficiency, Anton is invited to appear in blockbusters, fantasy fighters and thrillers.

The film is the memory of Sam Winston

Unlike the third episode, in the fourth part, digital effects were reduced to an acceptable minimum. The process of filming was accompanied by injuries: Sam Worthington managed to damage his back, Christian Bale broke his arm, and one of the masters of special effects lost his leg during the shooting of the explosion. This film was dedicated to the memory of Sam Winston - one of the leading masters of special effects, participating in the filming of the first "Terminator" and died during the shooting.

I`ll be back

It is possible that the first Cameron's "Terminators" for the overwhelming majority of viewers will remain exemplary, but the fourth episode is an opportunity to plunge into the past for a short time, in which robots understood human emotions and feelings. The film should be looked at at least in order to find out if the terminator Schwarzenegger will appear in it.
