Gymnastics for the spine.

Currently, osteochondrosis is a common pathology of the osteoarticular apparatus of man. The reason for the formation of this disease is most often the weakness of the muscular framework of the spine, which arises as a result of a sedentary lifestyle.

Gymnastics for the spine is one of the best ways to strengthen the natural (muscular) skeleton. Modern medicine has developed whole complexes of gymnastic exercises, recommended for osteochondrosis of this or that part of the spine.

Gymnastics for the spine (cervical department)

Each of the exercises must be repeated at least five to ten times, while orienting yourself on your painful sensations. This complex of exercises can be performed both at home and during breaks during work:

  1. Perform rotational movements of the head.
  2. Lower your head and try to touch the chin of the upper edge of the sternum.
  3. Tipping head as far back as possible.
  4. Sit on a chair. Raise your shoulders as high as possible, keep this position for ten to fifteen seconds.

Gymnastics for the spine (thoracic region)

This set of exercises is allowed for use in both acute and chronic spine diseases. The necessary number of repetitions of each exercise is three to four times. Such a complex helps to improve the mobility of the thoracic vertebrae.

  1. Sit on a chair, put your hands on the back of your head. Take a deep breath and, if possible, bend back as far as possible (the back should be pinned to the back of the chair). Then, make a slope forward and exhale.
  2. Lie on the floor, perform backward flexure.
  3. Sit on a chair. Drag the bottom of the chest with a towel. During a deep inspiration, create resistance to the expansion of the chest.

Gymnastics for the spine (lumbar region)

Each exercise should be repeated ten to fifteen times.

  1. Lie on your back, hands stretch along the trunk. Alternately, strain and relax the abdominal muscles.
  2. Lie down on the back, perform lifting of the upper part of the trunk, without lifting your legs from the floor.
  3. The starting position on the back is lying, hands stretching along the body. Do not tear off the scapula and head from the floor, shift your legs first both to the right side, then both to the left.
  4. Get on all fours. Perform alternate back sagging first to the right, then to the left.
  5. Hang on your straightened arms on the bar. Perform rotational movements from side to side.
  6. Lie on your stomach, pull your arms forward, spread your legs slightly. Raise one leg and hold it for about five to ten seconds. Repeat this exercise with the other leg.

After you finish doing gymnastic exercises, lie down and rest for about an hour.

One of the variants of the pathology of the spinal column may be a vertebral hernia. Gymnastics for this disease in the acute period (when there are severe pain) is contraindicated. First of all, it is connected with the possibility of infringement of the nerve and aggravation of the patient's condition.

As for the chronic condition - medical gymnastics with vertebral hernia is actively prescribed and recommended by doctors. This gymnastics practically does not differ from gymnastics in case of osteochondrosis. The only feature is the exclusion from the list of exercises that cause painful sensations, as well as the performance of the whole complex more clearly and smoothly. In general, slow and smooth performance of exercises, without any jerks, different movements and accelerations - a distinctive feature of all exercises for the spine.

Thus, therapeutic gymnastics is a good tool for treating and preventing pathology of the spine.
