Google joins Levi's to create clothes with built-in electronics

Modern everyday objects are becoming more and more technological, they perform several functions at once, and this is becoming their habitual property. The usual jeans, shirts and jackets are still about the same as they were decades ago, but it seems that soon the achievements of technology will affect the usual worn things. At least, Google seriously took the trouble to break the patriarchal way of the textile industry.

Magic threads

How will it look like? A full picture can not be drawn even by employees working in the project "Jacquard". Its lead designer Karsten Shvezig talks about some "conducting threads" that have recently been created. They, according to the plan, should be woven into the usual fabric, turning it into an interactive surface. Any matter familiar to us can be used as a base, be it lavsan, wool or cotton. Conductors developed by technologists are thin, and their presence will not be practically felt by touch, but they are strong enough to be integrated into any industrially produced textiles.

But the surfaces in themselves do not yet serve the performance of interactive functions, they will only become the original "boards" on which the scheme is built.

Devices and Peripherals

In addition to the conductors, small sensors are needed, approximately the size corresponding to buttons or buttons, with the help of which it will be possible to control the system. Also, mini-computers are needed that recognize the signals being fed and generate control actions. The whole problem is that the clothes do not look like some bulky spacesuit, it must correspond to the aesthetic representations of consumers, be beautiful, comfortable and fashionable. To combine functionality with maximum ergonomics to the "Jacquard" project, it was decided to connect the "whale" of the jeans industry, Levis.

What functions will the new technology clothes have? This can only be surmised. On the turn of the furniture ...
