Gianni Rodari - the one who wrote "Cipollino"

In the artistic world literature there are many fairy tales for children who have their authorship. Among them, and this wonderful and beloved by many children in Russia - about the mischievous and cheerful Cipollino, the boy-onion. Along with other fairy-tale characters, his image forever won the attention and trust of the children as the embodiment of the romance of justice and strong friendship. And the fairy tale became so fond of children that it became a reference book for several generations of Russians, and still, along with such as "The Adventure of Pinocchio" or "Little Red Riding Hood", for example, is included in the circle of active children's reading.

Who wrote "Chipollino"

Despite all the popularity of this work, some guys do not know who is the author of the fairy tale, and some think that it is folk. And there is a certain amount of truth in this. After all, it involves wit and courage, kindness and naivety of the people's characters in Italy. But, despite some stylization, it has a specific authorship. Who wrote the Cipollino? The author of this work is Gianni Rodari. The fate of the future writer and fighter for communist ideals was not easy.

The one who wrote the fairy tale "Cipollino"

Gianni was the son of a simple Italian baker. His father Giuseppe left the world when little Rodari was only ten years old. The writer's childhood was spent in the village of Varesotto. It is known that since childhood, the boy was fond of music (playing the violin) and reading books, grew painful and quite often sick. Three years he graduated from the seminary, attended classes at the Faculty of Philology in Milan. After studying, the one who wrote "Chipollino" became a teacher (already in 17 years he began to teach in rural junior classes).

Participation in anti-fascist resistance

During the war, Gianni is freed from military service because of poor health. Perceiving the ideas of communism, he participates in anti-fascist resistance and in 1944 he joins the Communist Party of Italy.

Postwar years

After World War II, Gianni Rodari works as a columnist for Unita, the newspaper of the Italian Communists. In 1950, he was appointed editor of the children's magazine. In 1951 he published his first children's poetic collection, which was called "The Book of Gay Poems." And then - and his well-known fairy tale in the future.

Russian translation of the work

Now many people know who wrote "Cipollino". But in 1953, when the tale first appeared in the USSR in the translation of Potapova, few people heard of the young Italian author. But the work immediately fell in love with small readers and literary critics. Books with drawings are published in millions of copies. And at the studio "Soyuzmultfilm" in 1961 they shoot a cartoon based on the work. In 1973 - a film-tale "Cipollino" (where the author played himself, a storyteller-inventor). The work became so popular that it was included in the school curriculum for Soviet schoolchildren. Gianni Rodari, the one who wrote "Cipollino", repeatedly comes to the USSR, where he is treated with love and respect.

World fame

In 1970, the children's writer entered the circle of the most widely read authors for kids and received a very prestigious award named after another storyteller, Andersen. It brought him truly world-wide fame. A cheerful and fair boy-Lukovka became one of the favorite heroes of children all over the planet. His books (not only the "Adventure of Cipollino", but also children's poems, stories and other works) are published in many languages of the world, and their children always read with great pleasure. In our country, Rodari's poems were published in no less talented translations of Marshak, Akim, Konstantinova.

Club of Merry Little People

In the Soviet Union, the protagonist of the eponymous work became a member of the imaginary Club of Merry Men (established by the magazine "Merry Pictures"), which consists of the children's favorite books, films, cartoons.
