Gel varnish: the pros and cons

The gel varnish is quite popular now. With his help, a manicure is regularly done by hundreds of thousands of women all over the world. The main advantage of this varnish is this: it stays without chips for several weeks.

Gel lacquers for nails are applied using special technology as follows. First, the nails are covered with a thin layer of Bond-gel, which gives them a matte shade. To polymerize the gel, the hand should be placed for a minute in the UV apparatus. The dispersion adhesive layer, which appears after this procedure on the nails, is not removed at this stage. Then, a reinforcing transparent gel is applied over it and the polymerization procedure is repeated for 30 seconds.

With a special brush, the gel varnish is applied to the nails over the dispersion layer. Then the hand should be placed for another 3 minutes in the UV apparatus. The nails are covered with a transparent ultra-hardening gel.

For the polymerization, the hand is again placed for one minute in a UV apparatus, the dispersion layer is removed (eg by means of "Clinser Plas"). After that, the coating gets a smooth, shiny and even appearance.

Instead of an ultra-hardening gel, you can use a drug called "Strengthened fixer". This product does not require the use of a UV device and the removal of the dispersion layer, which greatly facilitates the work and saves time for the application of gel varnish.

The nails are then covered with a special oil, it is also rubbed into the cuticle and the peri-osophageal surface by massage movements.

However, with all the advantages, dermatologists have now begun to express concern that gel nail polish harms the nails and even increases the risk of developing skin cancer. Such information appeared in The Daily Mail. The very report on the results of the research was published in the journal of the American Academy of Dermatology

It is noteworthy that the gel varnishes reviews from the fans receive exceptionally positive. However, not everything is as beautiful as it might seem at first glance. In fact, besides beauty, this varnish can bring and problems. Each layer of varnish is fixed with a UV lamp, the effect of which can lead to negative effects.

UV rays can damage skin cells. Therefore, too often do gel manicure is not worth it. As studies have shown, visitors to the salons have no idea what effect the rays have on the skin. To minimize the negative effects of the doctors recommend before going to the salon to apply a thick layer of sunblock. This will reduce the chemical effect.

In addition, with a systematic update of the gel manicure, the nails begin to break and separate, because the composition applied to them causes thinning and brittleness of the nail plates. It is still unknown what causes brittleness - chemical substances that contain gel varnish, acetone or other components.

To make the procedures safe, experts advise that they be performed at intervals of not less than six weeks, so that the nails can be fully restored.
