Entering the Russian market for a light-duty vehicle GAZelle "Next" became a landmark event for the Gorky Automobile Plant. Such commercial vehicles on GAZ were produced a long time ago - since 1994 the first trucks, and then minibuses and their other modifications, have come off the assembly line. Today, the Gorky Automobile Plant has firmly decided to oust its main competitors from the market - Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and other small tonnages. But is the new GAZelle "Next" really worthy of the title of the best commercial car? To answer this question, today we will devote a separate review to this truck.

Design

The exterior of the car was radically redesigned - as proof of this, completely new body shapes, lights and bumper (see photo). GAZelle "Next" was built on the platform of the predecessor "Business", because the engineers took from this model all the positive qualities and implemented them. In particular, it concerns the salon, but about it a little later.

The design of the low-tonnage GAZelle "Next" (reviews also note this moment) has quite similar features to the series of "Business" trucks that were produced at the Gorky plant in 2010. In fact, the new machine has all the same cab design. However, now there are clearly visible new, relief lines, a beautiful grille, a large windscreen and a huge bumper, organically fit into the overall appearance of the car. Obsolete design of "Next" can not be named - and this is a fact. It looks like the Nizhny Novgorod people have been thinking seriously about the great scale of production.

Interior

When designing the salon, the engineers faced an almost impossible task: there should not be any shortcomings of the previous models in the new interior. Thus, inside each new GAZel, every small detail was thought through. But as it will be displayed on ergonomics, time will tell, but for now let's go through the salon in detail.

So, let's start with the door. The cover clearly reminds us of the one that was installed on GAZelle "Business" several years ago. However, then it had a slightly different design. Rear-view mirrors - this is perhaps the most intrusive problem of all GAZel: due to their small size, it was almost blind to reverse gear. But now the area of the mirrors has increased significantly, which means that the driver will have a good control over the situation on the road, not only from the front and the sides (by the way, there have never been any problems with Gorky's small tonnage), but also from behind.

The old is in the past!

The castles and door handles have also been improved, which can now be opened without any additional effort. The designers took care of the convenient landing / disembarkation of the driver, slightly increasing the door opening and the length of the step. Inside appeared a lot of boxes and glove boxes, the central one of which contains the documentation in the amount of A4 (recall, in the early models of GAZeley drivers had to bend the paper in half to put it in the glove box). The central console is quite ergonomic - there are no shortcomings here. The instrument panel has adjustable lighting, at the same time it is simple and informative.

The ability to adjust the driver's seat in different directions is one of the main features of the new GAZelle-Next vehicle. Reviews of owners of early models of Gorky small tonnage often emphasized the inability to adjust the seat in any direction as the main disadvantage in terms of comfort. Now this problem is solved to the full. Moreover, in the cabin there is even an armrest between the driver's and the passenger's seat.

Hard and constantly rumbling plastic is a characteristic feature of all cargo GAZel, produced from 1994 to 2012. And finally, almost on the 20th year of the model's existence, the engineers decided to tackle this problem seriously. Now we are talking about a completely different noise insulation, which is installed on a new GAZelle "Next". Experts say that due to the solved problem with soundproofing, the domestic truck can really compete successfully in the world market.

The last update touched the ventilation system. Constantly dropping plastic deflectors in the past, however, as well as problems with the adjustment and operation of the heating system.

Security

The early models of GAZel were equipped with only passive safety features. Among them there were only 3-point belts, and for 2 passengers there was attached only one such with a pretensioner. Now the Gorky Automobile Plant decided to approach this problem from a more serious point of view. In addition to the new modified belts, the car is equipped with two front airbags. In the future, developers are planning to provide the machine with other options.

Quality of metal

As you know, the quality of manufacturing cabins on GAZels of the first and second generations was very unsatisfactory. Owners of low-tonnage GAZs in the 1994-2003 release often complained of metal decay in the area of the footboard and the lower part of the door. There have even been cases when the metal simply fell and crumbled under the influence of corrosion. There were also traces of rust in the field of wheel arches.

But with the release of the second generation of GAZel, the tricks still continued, and to a new degree. Since 2003, instead of the thresholds of cars rotting hood - it had to constantly tint, and sometimes install a new one. Some craftsmen came in a more original way - they glued a carbon black film to the paintwork (or rather, to its remains).

Body

In addition, the new GAZelle rotted the body, and very often through and through. The sides of the car after 3-4 years of operation were simply riddled with holes, and the metal, as before, had the property of crumbling and falling asleep from the same holes on the run. But will there be such a situation with the new truck "GAZelle-Next"? Experts' testimonies testify that no. And for this there are dry facts. First, the body of the car "Next" is made of aluminum (that is, it will not be corroded at all), and the cabin is made of galvanized steel (more precisely, it is covered with a layer of that). In general, the decay of metal in problem areas can be forgotten.

GAZelle "Next": characteristics of engines

With the inheritance of the frame, "Next" took over from the "Business" and a line of power units, which as we know, significantly expanded in 2010 (then there was a diesel "Cummins" in volume of 2.8 liters). It is they who will be equipped with the machine all subsequent years of production. This turbo-diesel unit is equipped with a 5-step manual transmission. As for the fuel consumption of the GAZelle-Next vehicle, the owners' feedback points to the high efficiency of the engine. According to the passport data, she spends no more than 8.5 (at 60 km / h) and 10.3 (at 80 km / h) a liter of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers of track. At the same time, the maximum speed of the car is 134 kilometers per hour.

It is worth emphasizing the special reliability of the diesel engine, which is installed on the new GAZelle "Next". Its total resource (that is, the mileage before overhaul) is more than 500 thousand kilometers. Thus, 120-strong American "Cummins" deserves the title of "engine-millionaire." For comparison: the 402nd and 406th motors had a resource of no more than 200-300 thousand km before overhaul.

With the installation of a new power unit and a number of numerous improvements in the technical field, the service interval of the car was increased from 15 to 20 thousand kilometers. The same interval between maintenance will have other modifications of cars "GAZelle-Next" - bus, dump truck and other variations of them.

Ecological compatibility

Much attention motorists paid to the toxicity of exhaust gases. Now the cargo GAZ and its "Cummins" will not only meet the Euro-4 standard, but also Euro-5, and even Euro-6 (GAZelle "Next" bus, among others). However, such care for the environment prompted new troubles and difficulties in maintenance. Now many who bought Gazelle "Next" ("farmer" or van - it does not matter), complain about the problems with filters and injectors, which because of low-quality diesel fuel are clogged almost every month. That is, for normal work on domestic transportation, you need to buy a car with the lowest environmental standard (in our case it's Euro 4) and find a network of gas stations that sells, in fact, high-quality fuel.

Cargo space capacity

Thanks to the appearance of new modifications with an elongated body, "Next" can safely transport cargo with a volume such as 11, 16, 18 or more cubic meters. By the way, the 4-meter version contains exactly 6 europallets. True, many drivers still do not understand the way to release such long-wheelbase versions. Indeed, why cut the frame in half, and then insert a channel between the two halves? Is it not easier to create a solid frame, as, for example, do the Germans with their "Atego"? It seems that such an artisanal method of lengthening the machine will be practiced for a long time at GAZ.

GAZelle "Next": price

The initial cost for the car in 2014 is 725 thousand rubles. For this price, the buyer is offered a "bare" chassis. The elongated GAZelle "Next" (also without a body) will cost 745 thousand rubles. On-board versions, depending on the length of the frame, range from 750 to 764 thousand. GAZelle "Next" farmer with a double take-cab can be purchased from an authorized dealer at a price of 820 thousand rubles. Manufactured vans cost about the same amount - from 788,000 to 820,000 rubles. The price for Gazelle "Next" (bus) is about 985 000 rubles. The version of the truck with a dump body costs 888,000 rubles. By the way, according to the manufacturer, GAZelle "Next" passenger has higher ceilings and can be equipped for both urban and inter-regional transportation.

Level of equipment

Finally, technical progress has reached our trucks. In particular, it should be noted that the basic equipment of the GAZelle series "Next" (its passenger version including) includes a central lock, branded audio system, cruise control, seats with height and horizontal adjustment, heated rear-view mirrors , power windows, Steering column adjustment, as well as a sensor signaling the open position of the door. Such a vast number of options in the base configuration from the Gorky Automobile Plant and its product "GAZelle" still no one expected.

Regardless of the configuration and cost of the machine, the warranty period for each is 3 years or 150 thousand kilometers of mileage.
