Flag of Tatarstan. Symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan. The meaning of the colors of the flag

Even small countries, which are in formal subordination to the larger ones, have their own customs, traditions, history and pride. The latter relies on national symbols that are kept by residents of small republics and autonomies with zeal, to which citizens of more extensive but fragmented states can only envy. The former Tatar SSR, now Tatarstan, is one of those not too big, but proud and with strong memory republics.

State History of the Tatar Lands: Ancient Times

This republic is rooted in its very deep roots in ancient times. Places in which the present Tatarstan is located, were mastered by mankind even in times of stone tools. It is unlikely that the then disparate settlements can be considered at least some kind of similarity of the state. The territory of the state, occupied by the Republic of Tatarstan these days, was formed only at the time of the formation of the Volga-Kama Bulgaria, that is, in the 9th century. This power for its time was distinguished by high cultural development and rather advanced technologies of agriculture and handicraft production. It was precisely this Bulgaria in many ways that determined the further way of the formation of a huge number of Volga peoples.

Freedom-loving attitude of the population

It may well be that it was the invasion of the Batyiv Horde and the subsequent two hundred or three hundred years of its rule that laid the desire for freedom and rebellion in the Tatar people. It all began with the campaigns of Ivan the Terrible, nicknamed Kazan, but continued with the general participation of the Tatars in the razinskaya Peasant War. Reducing the heat of passion is noted only from the time of approval of the Kazan province and its intensive development. Although it is fair to note that the war started by Pugachev also did not leave the Tatars indifferent, and in all subsequent folk speeches the local population took an active part. The flag of Tatarstan was not even planned in those days.

Such trends persisted in the following decades. Residents of the future of Tatarstan did not stay aloof either from the revolution or during the Civil War. In the events of the Great Patriotic War they too vigorously participated in military operations. And only with the advent of peaceful times, the initiative of the Tatars went to the creative channel: the gas and oil industries began to develop actively, a grand reserve between the Volga and the Kama was established, and the KAMAZ truck started to function.

Times of Independence

However, it was Tatarstan that became independent only in the tumultuous nineties, after the collapse of the gigantic education named after the USSR. And if officially this event dates back to 1990, the modern name - the Republic of Tatarstan - territories were acquired only in 92. Then they became a sovereign state, with a democratic orientation. It had the right to conclude (or refuse to do so) alliances or treaties with any other countries. Since 2000, the newly formed state has become associated and united within Russia.

In the interval between these milestones, the flag of Tatarstan was created.

Appearance of the banner

His appearance is modest, strict and unobtrusive. Like most other banners (both state and military, corporate, generic, etc.), this is a rectangular panel. In the modern world, most such state symbols are divided into horizontal bands. The flag of Tatarstan is among them. The bands on this banner are three: two of them are of equal size and are painted in red and green. The average is very narrow (according to the rules of the Tatar heraldry it should not be wider than 1/15 of the "height" of the flag). Its color is white.

The developer, whose brainchild became the flag of the Republic of Tatarstan, is Khaziahmetov Tavil. This is not his first work; Among other titles he can boast of the title of national artist of his country. In addition, Khaziahmetov is also a laureate of an honorary title in Tatarstan named after Tukay.

Importance of the coloration of the national symbol

Like any other country, this associated republic in Russia took the colors of its banner, to put it mildly, not "from the ceiling." For its inhabitants, all the bands are filled with the deepest national, historical and psychological meaning.

The meaning of the flag of Tatarstan is divided into three parts, in full accordance with its color. Green, upper, the band is a symbol of rebirth. The color of bright spring greens is also always considered the color of hope, and this nuance is also peculiar to the interpretation of the Tatar flag.

The second broad band is red. And here it is treated not as a symbol of the struggle shed once by blood or the coming revenge (such interpretations of scarlet are also very common); No, the flag of the Republic of Tatarstan embodies in this color the ancient symbols of power and life, power and energy, as well as the wisdom that comes with the comprehension of life experience. From some point of view, this is an image of maturity, adulthood and understanding.

The narrowest, white part remains. Its flag of the Republic of Tatarstan expresses purity of intentions, peaceful mood and desire to live in harmony with all its neighbors.

Religious features of the country

Do not forget that this area is heterogeneous both in ethnic composition and in popular beliefs. Yet most of the population is made up of Tatars, who have long been Muslims. And even if many have forgotten the establishment of ancestors for the Soviet era, a considerable number of such people have returned to the faith of the fathers in recent years.

However, Russians living in this country and professing Orthodoxy are not much less. And let all these nuances - the internal affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, the flag also reflect them. So, from this point of view, the green part of it personifies Islam (this is its primordial color) and the Tatars of the Muslim faith; Red personifies the Russian population of the country and, accordingly, Orthodoxy. The symbolism of Tatarstan treats the separating white strip as a symbol of mutual understanding, peace, harmony and friendship.

That contains the coat of arms

His image is very interesting. On the one hand, it is extremely laconic, on the other hand it is full of deep meaning. The flag and coat of arms of Tatarstan are very much in harmony with the color palette: the same white, green and red. And in the second state symbol, the meanings of colors correspond in many respects to the symbolism in the first. The circle, which is the background for the remaining images, is the image of the Sun. On it is a leopard with wings and shield (round, not characteristic of Western European heraldic traditions pointed). On the rim of the circle is a traditional Tatar ornament, opened in the place where the inscription of the name of the republic goes.

What does it mean

The most significant image on the coat of arms is the leopard. His symbolism is complex and versatile. First of all, it is the personification of fertility, it was in this form in ancient times that the people represented the corresponding deity. Moreover, this animal is also considered the patron of the Tatar people and its land.

Attention is drawn to the raised above the ground paw of a huge cat. To begin with, this gesture signifies the greatness of the supreme power and its recognition by the people. But in addition, the symbolism of Tatarstan treats this paw as both the country's progress and its progress. In this case, the beast has pronounced claws and teeth - as a symbol of readiness and ability to protect. Wings of the leopard hint at protection not only on the ground, but also in the sky, and the position of the tail signifies affection and friendly attitude.

No less important is the image of the Sun, against which the leopard walks. It is a symbol of life, and successful, happiness and luck. Such a symbol is further strengthened by color - as bright as the flag of Tatarstan contains. No wonder our luminary - the progenitor and "resident" of everything that exists on earth.

The aster depicted on the shield (although some interpreters call the flower a tulip), in combination with the Tatar ornament on the rim of the emblem symbolizes the revival of nature awakened from hibernation, and at the same time the revival of the people and the country. In this case, the presence of these details on the arms is a kind of wish, and even a call to longevity and prosperity.

Additional color

However, there are color differences in the state symbols of the Republic of Tatarstan. The flag does not contain gold on the cloth, but in the arms it is present. Framing with this color for the beginning is an expression of the idea of perfection, unity and infinity, and in the sequel personifies the wealth, beauty and grace of the republic. The same gold ornament is made, which emphasizes the value of traditions for the Tatar people, as well as the inscription, "name" of the republic, as a sign that its citizens remember their origins and value the acquisition of statehood.

If you look unbiased, the arms and the flag of Tatarstan are very much in harmony. Photos of both are next to each other, and the eye is simply happy with the combination of the main state symbols of the republic. Maybe they are not very pretentious and ancient, but filled with such deep meaning that not all of its layers can be understood from the first time.
