Fiery Island of Lanzarote

The small island of Lanzarote, part of the Canary archipelago, the Spaniards have long been called "Fiery Island." This name deserves the Spanish island because of the presence of three hundred and twenty volcanic peaks in its territory, which is only 850 square kilometers. The last time they erupted in the 19th century, and in the near future this phenomenon is not predicted.

Due to the powerful simultaneous eruption of thirty small volcanoes, which occurred in 1730, the island was almost completely left without vegetation. After all, when the hot lava gets to the ground, even at a depth of 10 meters, the temperature exceeds a hundred degrees. Naturally, the land cover will be restored for a long time after such a strong warm-up. And if you take into account the fact that the eruption lasted for six years, then you can hardly hope that the greens here will ever appear.

It is an unusual volcanic landscape and fields, covered with frozen lava, the island and attracts sophisticated tourists. Announced by the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the island is not deprived of the local population. Here live about one hundred and fifty thousand people. Trying to harmonize with nature, they build houses in the same style as their ancestors did, and do not erect high-rise buildings. From the industry on the island there is only one plant that is engaged in desalination of water.

In the capital of the island, the city of Arrecife, there is an airport. Thanks to this, tours to Spain on Lanzarote are available to tourists of all countries. In the capital there is the only multi-storey building and several hotels for the whole island. But tourists do not like to stay in Arrecife.

But the rest in Spain at the resorts of Puerto Del Carmen, Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto Calero attracts a large number of tourists.

The most popular resort on the island is Puerto del Carmen, located in the south-west of Lanzarote. This is the only place on the island where night life is developed and there are large shopping complexes. Many restaurants, bars and discos work here until the morning. But again there is not a single high building. In addition to entertainment facilities, the village is notable for its eight-kilometer natural sandy beach strip.

In the east of the island is the resort of Costa Teguise. Tours to Spain in this place are popular with windsurfers. The tourist village is located so that on the beach there is always a small wind, but it does not prevent to swim in the ocean even in winter.

Rest in Spain on Playa Blanca is loved by tourists who prefer peace and quiet. Protected from the wind many kilometers of sandy beaches, well-developed infrastructure of the village attract tourists with children. If all other resorts of Lanzarote have already formed, then this southern resort is still developing at an active pace.

For respectable tourists there are tours to Spain for the resort of Puerto Calero. This village is very close to Puerto del Carmen, but very different from it. There are only three hotels, one shop and two restaurants. The hotels are a large, well-tended area with chic villas and bungalows with private pools. Strange as it may seem, more than fifty percent of tourists here are Russian tourists.

Enjoy your trip!
