Fertilizer from nettle: how to apply

Many summer residents consider nettles to be a weed and are mercilessly removed from the site. Meanwhile, a very effective fertilizer can be prepared from this plant. It is perfect for all types of garden crops, except for legumes, onions and garlic. Prepare such a fertilizer from the nettle is very easy. For this, the simplest method is to soak the ground plant in a barrel.

In order to prepare the necessary composition, you need to pick the actual nettle. At the same time, it is best to wear gloves. The most useful and nutritious fertilizer from nettle is obtained in the event that it is harvested before flowering. This must be taken into account. In addition, do not collect this plant along the road. In such nettles may contain harmful substances.

For the preparation of fertilizer will need a barrel. In this case, metal does not fit. Ideal option - wooden or plastic container. If you do not have a barrel, you can take a conventional 10 liter bucket. Nettle must be cut into small pieces. If the volume of green mass is too large, you can simply chop it with an ax.

Then the crushed nettle is placed in a barrel in such a way as to fill it in a third, and poured in warm water. In order for fermentation to occur faster and the area does not spread the smell, the container is covered with a lid. The fertilizer from the nettle will be ready in hot summer weather in about a week. In autumn or spring, fermentation will take at least two weeks. During this period, the mixture in the barrel will need to be mixed periodically. Do this once a day.

Learn about whether the fertilizer is ready or not, you can by the characteristic smell and color of the solution, which at the end of fermentation brightens. In addition, a foam appears on the surface of the composition. As soon as the solution with the nettle takes a similar shape, you can proceed with the proper feeding of plants. Liquid fertilizer from the nettle will need to be diluted with water at the rate of one part of the mixture for ten parts of water.

The beds are pre-drilled well with water. Then the diluted mixture, using a watering can, is poured under the roots of the plants. The result will be noticeable almost immediately - the leaves of the crops so fed will become dark green, and the stems - thicker. Fertilizer from nettle can be used regularly. Unlike chemical preparations, it is completely harmless both for the plants themselves and for human health. The stems and leaves of the nettle contain all the substances necessary for the growth of garden crops, and it gives them very easily.

You can use this plant to fight some types of pests. To do this, apply the spray method. In the event that you decide to use the cooked in the barrel this way, it should be diluted in a proportion of 1:20. Apply a solution from this plant against aphids, mites and even late blight.

Green nettle fertilizer has only one drawback. In the process of fermentation, it produces a very unpleasant odor. Therefore, the barrel of water should be placed as far as possible from the house and rest areas. However, the positive effect that gives the use of this type of fertilizing is certainly worth it to endure this slight inconvenience.
