Edible carving at home

For most Russians, the word "carving" is something new and completely incomprehensible. In fact, it translates as "carving wood, glass and stone." But today one more species is distinguished, namely carving from fruits, vegetables and other edible products. Surely many have seen stunning figures, images and even hieroglyphs made in this technique. And some people dream of learning how to do carving on their own at home.

Basics of the technique of implementation

First and foremost, it must immediately be said that huge, massive, edible sculptures in most cases are not simply performed by several professionals at once, but also prepared only for exhibitions or significant events as decorations. But carving at home can and should be more simple. The thing is that even with the passage of training from an experienced specialist, it will not be possible to quickly master this technique. It is necessary to stock up not only a lot of patience and perseverance, but also special tools. Even the simplest home carving requires the use of professional knives. Fortunately, it is quite easy to acquire them today.

As the simplest example of home edible carving, you can make vases of orange, boats from Bulgarian pepper, as well as flowers from chocolate or eggs. Some people mistakenly believe that carving at home is boring, impossible or very difficult to accomplish. In fact, this is not the case at all.

If we talk about independent learning of this art, today we can not only find videos with a detailed description of the performance of a particular figure or hieroglyph, but also acquire specialized literature. In addition, do not forget that today in almost every major city there are specialized courses, where you can be trained both individually and in a group.

Modern types of carving

At the present time, there are two main types of edible carving:

  1. European carving. For him, it is most characteristic to use in the process of work namely vegetables, which are traditionally present on the tables of Europeans: radish, cabbage, carrots, beets and others. Most often, the results of the work are accurate figures of animals, less often birds.
  2. Asian carving. By the way, it was he who appeared first. For him, the most typical use of exotic fruits, as well as cheese and chocolate. Most often, exotic flowers, plants and birds are cut out.

It must be understood that carving at home can be performed in any of these techniques. However, experienced experts advise starting with the European one. First, it is considered more simple for beginners. And secondly, when doing it, you can use the vegetables that are habitual for us, which are always at hand.

In any case, edible carving is not just an opportunity to beautifully and unusually decorate a table, but it is also a way to learn how to behold the beautiful and create it with your own hands.
