This balanced weapon can be guaranteed to hit the enemy at a distance of up to one and a half kilometers without prior technical training and adjustment.

The army's need for a new sniper rifle

Let's remember history. T 5000 replaced the SVD rifle. The Dragunov Rifle was developed in the 60's under the cartridge of 7.62 mm caliber at 54 mm. It is limited in range - up to an average distance. The aiming range - 400 m - allowed it to be used effectively in combat operations of the 20th century.

However, in the 21st century the concept of sniping has changed. The range of fire in 1 km became actual. Proceeding from physics, to increase it, accordingly, it is necessary to increase the caliber. However, in practice, this step regarding the Dragunov rifle proved to be of little prospect.

First, the modification of the SCDK, "sharpened" for a 9 mm cartridge, added weight, which caused the snipers to complain of rapid fatigue from shooting from unstable conditions. However, the main drawback was "hidden" in the cartridge, developed by Wilhelm Brenekke at the beginning of the XX century. The work of the German gunsmith had non-optimal for long-range shooting proportions: the relative large mass of the bullet with a relatively small sleeve. Accordingly, the energy of the powder gases was insufficient for aiming more than 400 m.

Russian designers have become aware of the futility of further modernization of the SVD. Sniper rifles of the world (German DSR-1, American M-110, Israeli M-89 SR, English L-96) have already crossed the sniping line at 1 km. This temporary tactical advantage should be eliminated.

Establishment of a core business

For tactical support of operations, an innovative rifle, corresponding to the class of the best foreign models, was required. The Promtekhnologii group of companies acted as an investor in the establishment of the Orsis company, whose mission was the design of the Russian T 5000 sniper rifle. The Orsis (Weapon Systems) enterprise has completed a full production cycle: from the manufacture of all parts to the assembly of the rifle itself.

Production by the end of 2011 fulfilled the overriding objective - to reach the level of the best foreign developments. According to Alexander Kostin, head of the public relations department of the GC "Promtehnologii", at the current time no more than five companies in the world demonstrate this level.

Trunk

One of the factors of technological advantages of Orsis is the use of innovative high-quality stainless steel alloys. However, this was not enough. After all, the world's best sniper rifles owe much to their accuracy characteristics of cutting the trunk.

It was chosen a short and tense way: immediately go to the industrial cutting of the trunk. Russian gunsmiths moved from their durning to a single-pass trellis planing machine with CNC. Such machines were created with the help of German and Swiss specialists and components. Developers did not reinvent the wheel. The starting point for the creation of rifled Russian machine tools was British analogues for single-pass cutting. Their "brain and heart" was a unique CNC from "Promtehnologii". As a result, a new technology was born, in which the deviation from the basic accuracy does not exceed two microns.

The barrel of the new sniper weapon is equipped with longitudinal stakes, providing additional rigidity and cooling. An important detail of the created weapon is the three-chamber muzzle brake-compensator of intra-firm development "Orsis". When sniping for long distances the muzzle brake is unfastened, and the range of fire is increased.

The gate group. Two variants of the rifle

Carbine t 5000 belongs to the class of "tactical rifles." And modern tactics, as already mentioned, involves sniping both at an average distance (400-500 m) and at a distant (about 1 km).

In connection with the above, the designers proposed two basic options. At the first (medium-distance), a standard gate group was used, calculated for a standard 7.62-mm cartridge. The second variant (long-distance) is characterized by a longer bolt group, serving 8.58-mm cartridge Magnum.

The increase in sighting range was achieved by increasing the caliber of the cartridge to a value of 8.58 mm by 69 mm.

Another constructive achievement was that Russian T 5000 sniper rifles have increased safety in operation. One of the components of its achievement is a 30 percent safety factor of the gate group with respect to the test pressure. With the help of heat treatment (hardening), the strength of the components of the bolt group made of stainless steel is increased. Special electro-erosion treatment has allowed them to give high-precision spatial geometric dimensions.

Trigger

Structurally, the trigger T 5000 is made of several materials. For the production of the bearing shell, a stainless steel reinforced with heat treatment is used. The internal parts are made of steel grade 40 x 13 (from which they produce scalpels). The lid is made of titanium alloy. The mechanism is isolated, simple, reliable, easy to repair.

The arm of the shooter without tension is located on the handle of the pistol type, the adjustable butt easily adapts to his anthropometry. When transferring weapons to the marching state, the butt is removed to the side and fixed with a special magnetic lock. However, what is the main convenience of the T-5000 for a sniper? In combat capabilities, allowing you to effectively perform complex combat missions. Her mechanics are surprisingly adjusted and, accordingly, remarkable precision characteristics are achieved. The technology of head-poorness compensates for the significant impact of torque from the passage of the bullet, the force acting on the screws that fasten the barrel to the bed, the force of recoil. Thanks to a special epoxy bed under the bolt group (which, in fact, is called "glass-poor"), it is ensured its secure fit to the bed and, as a result, "the sight does not get lost" over time.

The rifle is ergonomic, provides an insignificant level of kickback and, importantly, besides, after the shot, the sight remains on the target. The latter is important to see the result of the shooting, because the rate of fire (20 rounds per minute) allows an additional shot to be fired.

Construction and TTX

The design basis for the creation of the T 5000 rifle is classified as a multiply-charged bolt-type group equipped with two combat front stops. It is equipped with a longitudinally sliding rotary bolt, a barrel and a shock-trigger mechanism made of stainless steel. Metal parts of the weapon are made as matte, wear-resistant coating, burnished (Cerakote), development of the company "NIK-Industries".

Aluminum alloy serves as a material for the manufacture of the T-5000 box. The high-precision sniper rifle is equipped with a sight of the series "12 to 56" in a steel case with multilayered coating of lenses and water protection. Its characteristics: a 12-fold magnification and a 56-mm diameter lens.

Tests of the rifle

What did the official presentation of the newly created T 5000 show? High-precision sniper rifle for the first time officially demonstrated its fighting properties in the fall of 2011 at the VIII International Arms Exhibition in Nizhny Tagil. Demonstration show was produced by Dmitri Semizorov, a specialist in sniper shooting, recognized in Russia and in the world. Goals are located at the borders of 540, 300 and 100 meters.

The results of the test shooting proved to be more than successful. The shooting center strictly coincided with the center of the target. This was facilitated by the design features introduced by the specialists of Promtehnologii: the innovative positioning system of the cartridge in the trigger mechanism and the deliberately accurate balancing of the rifle, which led to the fact that the recoil occurs strictly horizontally, without removing the sight from the target. The departure of the bullet from the sighting line at a distance of 100 m, just like the German DSR-1 rifle, was only a few millimeters. It is not surprising that such a spectacularly presented "Orsis" T 5000 reviews collected positive, and Russian anti-terrorist and special forces immediately wanted to adopt it.

In June 2012, the first place in the World Sniper Archery Championship in Hungary was taken by the Russian "Alfa", which plays with the domestic sniper rifles "Orsis" T 5000.
