Districts of Rostov-on-Don: a brief description

In 1749, the history of the southern "capital" of Russia, the city of Rostov-on-Don, begins. At that time Empress Catherine II rules. By her decree, the customs house, which stood at the mouth of the Temernik River, was rebuilt into a fortress, calling it Rostov. Thanks to the convenient location and foreign traders, the economic level here was rapidly growing.

In 1863, the districts of Rostov-on-Don are subordinated to the Donskoy region. However, already in 1920, Soviet power was being established on the territory. After that, industry began to appear in the city. In 1927, the largest plant, Rostselmash, was built. A little later in the city, a chemical enterprise and metal-working production will appear. Such a rapid growth of industry led to the fact that Rostov began to quickly turn into a major center, which, naturally, contributed to its economic development. Kirovsky district

The central region of Rostov-on-Don is Kirov. It is a historical, cultural, financial and business center of the city. Soviet district of Rostov-on-Don

Soviet is considered the youngest district of the city. It was founded in 1973, the population is about 179 thousand people.
