Dielectric coupling for gas. Safety precautions

The dielectric coupler for gas provides security in living quarters, and keeps people alive.

Equipment running on natural gas is connected to power sources. In order to avoid an accident when an electric current hits the gas mains, a protective insert must be mounted on the gas appliances.

The purpose of the dielectric coupler for gas

Boilers and boilers are used for heating the water of the heating system. To cook food in the kitchen put plates, ovens and cooking surfaces. In the listed devices there is a system of sensors of control, electric ignition, lighting of the oven. Therefore, the gas type of the device requires connection to the electrical network.

To ensure that the current does not flow through the gas pipe inside the room, insulators are used from a polyamide-clutch. For the dielectric coupler for gas, yellow polyamide is used due to the low content of conductive impurities.

Dielectric insulating inserts, if the current flows to the gas network, will keep the gas devices and gas meters operational.

How there is a breakdown on the gas network

Natural gas is supplied to homes and other premises through metal pipes laid underground under urban conditions or over its surface in the private sector. The metal is exposed to corrosion under the influence of moisture. Reducing the degree of corrosion helps the supply of a positive electrical potential.

Under the rules of safety at the entrance to the house on the pipe installed dielectric clutch. Thus, the gas riser inside the room is protected, provided that the coupling is installed correctly and in good order. But a dull grounding of the pipe in the basement of the house can be cut off due to corrosion.

Further, in a house or apartment, suppose a plate is attached to a riser through a rubber hose with a metal braid. If suddenly the insulation of the electric wire in the plate is broken, the current will go through the braid of the hose. Depending on the strength of the current, the warm-up time and the breakdown of the hose will be small or prolonged, but the breakdown will happen.

Sometimes tenants of the house arrange a grounding on a gas pipe.

Possible fire with a gas leak in the apartment. Everything can do without victims, but with material losses. After such an event, the question of why a dielectric coupler is needed for gas will not be hypothetical for tenants.

How the coupling works

Details of the gas network are produced in several types by type of attachment: "choke - fitting", "nut - fitting". The product is non-removable, non-separable, therefore it is safe to operate. Any excess connection is a source of gas leakage.

Qualitative couplings are made of brass, the thickness of the tube is not less than 4.5 millimeters. The insulating part is made of yellow polyamide, which includes a "flame retardant".

Choice of piping and couplings

It is better to choose the bellows for the bellows with a yellow insulator. It is easier for housewives to launder this liner from dust and kitchen soot. At the same time, the insulator protects against current flow when touching the bare terminals of devices under voltage or the conductive body of the device.

Of course, one could put an inexpensive rubber hose. But rubber has the property of aging, lose elasticity, on the rubber hose there are microcracks - places of gas leakage.

Dielectric gas couplings protect against the flow of current through any hose. These parts are tested for a breakdown with a current of 50 Hz and a voltage of 3.75 kV for 6 or more seconds. When applying a voltage of one kilovolt, the electrical resistance is 5 megaohm. The inserts withstand a temperature difference from -60 to +100 degrees. The insulator manufacturers guarantee a service life of at least 20 years.

Having installed a dielectric clutch for gas, leaving the house for business or taking a bath, the reader will be confident in the safety of housing, close people and neighbors. Dielectric insulator - protection against burn-in of piping, subsequent leakage of gas and an imminent explosion.
