Decide which printer is best for home

Owners of computers often get lost in choosing: which printer is best for home? Reducing the cost of devices for outputting digital information to paper medium has led to the fact that they are often bought not because of extreme necessity, as it was before, but for solving a narrow range of problems. Regardless of the purpose, each person seeks to acquire the best printer for the home, which will be most effective in coping with their tasks.

Modifications

Under the simple word "printer" are hidden three groups of devices that differ substantially in the principle of operation. Hence the differences in cost and functionality. The first group is matrix printers. The principle of image formation in them is similar to typewriters: at the command of the controller special needles are struck on paper through the ink ribbon, creating the desired picture. Now these devices are almost not produced, since they have more shortcomings than merits. Acquisition is advisable only for niche use (reliability and durability due to simple design, high safety of prints). That's why, thinking about which printer is best for the home, they often consider models from two other groups - inkjet and laser.

Criteria

Let's formulate the basic requirements for a home printer:

- Affordable purchase price;

- simple maintenance;

- cheap prints (in terms of consumables);

- durability;

- the ability to print both text and color images.

Inkjet Models

Although when choosing a store some consultants persistently offer to buy a good laser printer for the home, rather than an inkjet, this solution should be considered. Let's look at the above criteria. It's only by comparison that you can determine which printer is best for your home. So, the lower price bracket of laser models is almost twice as high as that of jet machines. In the latter, the formation of a print is carried out by transferring to the paper microscopic drops of ink in the desired sequence. After emptying the tanks, you can fill them yourself with a suitable inexpensive paint with a syringe in just a few minutes. Due to this, the price of the print, which is formed from the cost of dyes and paper (natural wear and tear of devices and electricity is not taken into account), is obtained quite low. The undoubted advantage of inkjet printers is the ability to output high-quality images in color. The only thing an inkjet printer can not boast of is durability. This is due to the fact that with a long break in printing (more than 1-2 weeks), the ink remains in the nozzles of the print head may dry out, which will require restoration. This feature is also true for the CISS solutions. Although this can easily be prevented by simply printing an arbitrary picture for a specified period, many users often forget about it.

Laser printers

Devices of this group create an image by "baking" a special toner powder on the carrier. Speaking about laser models, it is impossible not to mention their cost. Although it is higher than the devices of the previous group, a longer service life allows to assert that the total cost will be lower. Here it is important to decide whether a person is ready to immediately pay a relatively large amount, or it is more preferable to "stretch" the payment. Owners of laser technicians know that with the proper skill, filling up the containers with powder is quite possible for each and does not take much time. And given the fact that the resource of one cartridge is measured by thousands of printed pages (compare with hundreds of inkjets), the price of the print may well be even lower than that of inkjet printers. A significant drawback of laser models is the impossibility of color printing. All budget modifications form only black and white prints, and devices for color images are more than twice as expensive. In addition, the cost of consumables for color laser printers is still too high.

Which printer is best for home

Thus, it is impossible to say unambiguously which printing device is most expedient to purchase. Each group has its own characteristics, and the choice, as always, is the user. To put it briefly, if the main task of the printer is to print text information in large volumes (for example, printing books) without the need to output color images, then the choice is obvious - a laser. In all other cases, the jet is more optimal.
