Dagestan: flag and coat of arms, their history and meaning

Dagestan, whose flag will be described in this article, is a republic of the Russian Federation. The initial version of this state symbol was adopted in 1994. Subsequently, the cloth itself underwent some changes, and by 2003 they were officially fixed. Until that time, the country did not have its own symbols, since it was part of other state associations. So, with the existence of the Russian Empire, the peoples of the mountains were part of the Terek region, which used the state symbols of Russia.

Since 1919, it was part of the North Caucasus Emirate, along with the lands of the mountainous Chechnya and Ingushetia. The flag was a cloth with a width to length ratio of two to one, green, with a white crescent in the center and three stars above it of the same color.
