Cultivation of tulips

Tulip - one of the most common types of flowers in the spring . Currently, there are many varieties of tulips, combined into classes: a class of terry, a fimbriated class, a class of lily-colored, a class of parrots and others. In Holland, this flower was imported from Turkey in the 16th century.

Tulips belong to a group of plants that, in a fairly short period of time, manage to grow, bloom and give offspring. The most favorable for planting these flowers is the period from September to the beginning of frosts.

Cultivation of tulips should occur according to certain garden norms and rules. Before they are planted, it is necessary to prepare the soil. To do this, it should be dug to a depth of thirty centimeters and add complex mineral fertilizers. In early April, a good root system already appears, so plants need fertilizing. To protect flower bulbs from eating mice, they are best placed in wire-braided baskets.

Tulips: planting and care

Care for these plants is negligible, they can grow in one place for several years. The main thing is that the soil contains the necessary supply of nutrients. Cultivation of tulips should be accompanied by top dressing in the spring period at least once every few years. In autumn, the territory of planting flowers should be fertilized with rotted compost. It is very important that non-viable flower stalks be cut off before they lose the opportunity to form new seed fruits. If the leaves of the tulips wilted, then they must be removed, since the useful substances have already managed to get into the bulb.

Cultivation of tulips can begin in the winter. To do this, you need a wooden box, on the bottom of which the sand and claydite are poured. The thickness of each layer should be about three centimeters. And from above, a thickness of fifteen centimeters, the soil is filled. In the prepared soil, bulbs of tulips are planted and covered with sand until about the middle. Do not forget to pour water. For ten days, the box with the plants should be removed to a warm room. Once in the yard a little warmer, the bulbs can be planted in the garden. To do this, you need to dig a hole in the snow and install a box in it, top it with a thick layer of snow. In this state, the plants should be kept until the beginning of April. It is from this period that tulips can be planted in the ground.

Cultivation of tulips can be done at home, without waiting for the onset of heat. It is enough to drop the bulbs of flowers in small pots and arrange them around the apartment.

Cultivation of tulips in a greenhouse must be subject to certain rules. The greenhouse should be in a well-lit place. To artificially extend the light day, additional lighting can be installed in it. But with this great attention should be paid to the insulation of the wires because of the high humidity inside the greenhouse. In addition, you need a thermal sensor, through which you can monitor the temperature level. After all, it should not be below twelve degrees Celsius.

Before growing the bulb, it must be decontaminated in a special solution. So they are disinfected and protected from various diseases. After that they are ready for planting. As a rule, they are planted in rows with a distance of two to ten centimeters. When planting strongly dig in bulbs is not worth it, so as not to damage them. The already planted bulbs of tulips are sprinkled with earth and are watered with water at room temperature with a watering can.

To summarize, I want to note that the cultivation of tulips should consist in proper care: watering, loosening and feeding.
