Bumerang "Bumerang" - a new machine for Russian motorized infantry

Today Russian motorized infantry moves on armored personnel carriers BTR-80 and BTR-82. These machines are time-tested, reliable and easy to operate, but from modern requirements have already begun to lag.

Until recently, it was difficult even for military specialists to judge what the new development of Russian designers of military equipment "Boomerang" is in technical terms. BTR, photo of which only recently became available to the general public, is likely to produce a real revolution in the tactics of using motorized rifle units.

As shown by the armed conflicts of recent decades, monolithic armor does not provide adequate protection to people in cars, it is capable of punching cumulative ammunition. The level of weapons also, according to military experts, could be higher, so that such a machine would more effectively support the advancing infantry. And yet, a modern armored vehicle must overcome water obstacles, without waiting for sappers to bring bridges.

Taking into account the requirements of the customer, the engineers of the Military-Industrial Company have begun to develop a new universal armored platform, on the basis of which it will be possible to build combat vehicles in several variants, in particular, armored personnel carriers. "Boomerang" turned out to be multi-purpose.

The design of the chassis and hull, according to the concept of designers, should be carried out on a modular basis, so you can achieve a high degree of unification, which will simplify the supply of spare parts and will, if necessary, re-modify any sample. Possible options: reconnaissance, ambulance, infantry fighting vehicles, mobile air defense systems and electronic warfare.

The "Boomerang" armored personnel carrier has a multi-layered ceramic-metal armor, which is considerably more solid in terms of stability. Strengthened mine resistance. Armament is represented by an artillery tower with telemetry control. 30-mm rapid-firing cannon, automatic grenade launcher and launcher "Kornet" will make up the standard configuration of the combat module, but there are also variants with heavy weapons (125-mm gun), which makes it possible to hit modern armored vehicles.

The information saturation of the Bumerang BTR equipment is unprecedented for the domestic motor rifle equipment. In real time, the commander can judge the position of all machines on the battlefield, obtain information about their damage and on the basis of these data make operational decisions. Thanks to thermal imaging and infrared devices, the Bumerang BTR can move and fire at night and in fog. The unified tactical management system (ESU TK), which is being created at present, will create conditions for a clear coordination of the actions of the crews, which will significantly increase the overall effectiveness of combat operations.

The 20-tonne machine is driven by a 600-horsepower motor, which has a long service life. Depending on the modification, it can be floating.

Up to now, not all the tactical and technical data of the Bumerang BTR have been known. News-2013, photos published in the press, and individual information provided by the leadership of the Military-Industrial Company, make it possible to judge the high combat qualities of the new combat vehicle and its approximate price. It is worth, of course, more expensive than the BMP-82, but cheaper than foreign analogs.

It is expected that in 2015, "Boomerangs" will begin to flow into the military units.
