Boxer Roman Karmazin: biography, sports career

Roman Aleksandrovich Karmazin is a former boxer who performed in the middle weight category. For his professional career he achieved seven championship belts.

Childhood

In the light Roman Karmazin appeared on January 2, 1973. The birthplace was the city of Kuznetsk in the Penza region. The first fight took place at the age of fourteen in the schoolyard. As a child, Roman was engaged in the gymnastics section and gave rather high hopes. One day, friends brought gloves to school and asked Karmazin to fight. After answering, Roman Karmazin confidently managed to stand up against the boy, already engaged in boxing for several years. The guys invited him to visit the sports section, which he agreed to and soon went to class.

Subsequently, Roman Karmazin began to go to gym classes in the morning, and in the evening to boxing. After three years he still made a choice in favor of the latter.

Service and relocation

After returning home, I continued to study boxing. However, the coach, seeing in him a great potential, advised him to leave his native city in order to get better skills. Roman Karmazin went to his uncle in St. Petersburg.

Going to "Dynamo"

Once Karmazin quarreled with the coach and left the section. The next stop in the career was the boxing school, in which Igor Lebedev coached . This transition has become one of the important decisions in the life of Roman. However, Lebedev did not want to work with defectors, but allowed him to go to the hall.

Karmazin constantly attended classes and demonstrated excellent work. In the ring, the boxer was not equal. Often a young man defeated even fighters in a larger weight category. However, Lebedev stubbornly refused to notice him.

Later, Roman Karmazin, whose boxing was not particularly wanted to see, realized that the coach thus gave him a check. Lebedev wanted to know what a boxer is and whether he should spend time on it. However, at that moment the young man did not understand this and was very upset by this attitude.

Most of the mentor said a few words to Karmazin and continued to engage with his athletes. Roman tried to find out what instructions he gives his students, but it was very difficult to explain everything and it was impossible to understand. Only later, as Roman himself said, he realized that Lebedev is a great coach.

The beginning of a professional career

Over time, the relationship between Lebedev and Karmazin became more and more friendly, and the school of boxing became his second home. Soon our hero began to perform in professional duels. At that time in Russia boxing was just beginning to form. However, the money was still not enough. For a duel, he could earn about two hundred dollars, but about thirty percent went to the manager. The result was that Roman Karmazin was often the participant of fights without rules. The fighting, by the way, most often ended in his favor.

Six long years it took to take part in the fight for the WBC title. Then the champion was Oscar De La Hoya. It all turned out that in 2002 a young athlete was to hold one of the main fights in his career. However, Roman Karmazin, whose biography can boast of dashing turns, was faced with a problem. Then Roman managed Igor Shafer as the manager. He could not agree on a fight, and soon De La Hoya moved to another weight class. Roman also got the opportunity to fight against Javier Castillejo.

Preparation and duel

The guy was very responsible for preparing for the fight. Spent almost a whole day in the hall. As Lebedev later said , the boxer had to be literally kicked out of the gym. Usually athletes are forced to carry out loads, but here everything was vice versa.

Roman went off to fight alone. At that time in St. Petersburg there were rumors that Karmazin seriously quarreled with the coach. However, as it turned out later, Roman played a scandal in order not to substitute the coach, as he guessed that he would be defeated.

Speech in Madrid was unsuccessful. The fighter was defeated on points. Returning to Russia, Roman gave part of the fee to the coach and said that he was going to retire. However, Lebedev refused money and did not even talk about it.

Return

However, in America, he was in for a new disappointment. The manager who worked with him, taking advantage of the fact that Roman did not know the language, concluded a contract unfavorable for the boxer. Soon the fighter managed to get acquainted with the Russian-speaking lawyer, who helped to achieve justice and an additional twenty-five percent to the fee.

The next year the boxer spent without fights, and in the summer of 2006 lost in the fight to Corey Spinks.
