"Be careful, the doors are closing! The next station is Voykovskaya. " The history and the present of the Moscow metro

Hundreds of thousands of people descend to this station daily from the surface, and vice versa. Even more just ride it on the train. And not everyone knows why she has been renamed for several years. But this should be said a little later, but for now it is necessary to recall how she appeared on the map of the Moscow metro.

History

The "Voikovskaya" metro station was opened on the last day of 1964, although it was conceived as far back as 1938. Several times the plans changed, its location could be completely different, at some point on the map could even appear as many as two stations in the area, but in the end everything was approved in the form that is familiar to us now. The station got its name from the nearby nearby Moscow Voikova iron foundry, which, in turn, was named after the fiery revolutionary Petr Lazarevich, a diplomatic worker and active associate of VI Lenin.

Some time after the opening, plans appeared to build a branch to the west, towards the Tushino district. However, later they refused this, deciding to hold a separate branch in that direction. Near the station there are backlogs for connecting the tracks with another ring line, but, according to modern plans, the so-called Third interchange circuit will not pass through the "Voikovskaya".

Location area

So, when it became clear, in honor of whom the station "Voykovskaya" was named, it is worthwhile to consider in detail where it is located. It is located in the north of Moscow and stretches along the Leningrad Highway. Not far from its vestibules are several bus stops, trolleybuses and trams, as well as a railway platform, so that the "Voykovskaya" metro station is an element of a fairly large transport hub.

In walking distance from the stop is a popular shopping center "Metropolis" and the adjacent office building. Also near the south exit from the station there is a park named after Vorovsky, on the territory of which in the XIX century there was a hospital for alcoholics.

About name changes

Those who are not strong in history, are unaware of whose name Voikovskaya station is named. Renaming, as well as the very fact that controversy surrounds it, can cause surprise to the ignorant. But in fact, for several years public figures have raised the question of changing the name of all the points of the transport and transfer junction. The variant "Koptevo" was offered. This was due to the inadmissibility of how activists claimed that important objects in the capital bore the surname of a terrorist who participated in the execution of the royal family and was seen in some not too plausible acts. Whether it is true or not, it is difficult to judge, it is difficult to say exactly what the role of Voykov in the destruction of the Russian monarchy was for the prescription of years. But disputes, however, do not subside, and the parties offer a variety of options.

At the end of 2015 on the basis of the platform "Active citizen" voting on this issue was completed, the results of which showed that 53% of Muscovites are against changing the name. An alternative poll conducted by independent media, in general, confirmed this statistics. This, however, did not put an end to this discussion - a variety of people are in favor of changing the name of the stations, offering to perpetuate the name of the recently deceased Eldar Ryazanov.

Following the transport and transfer junction, it is proposed to rename the whole area. This entails not only complexity, but also tangible costs, so the question remains highly ambiguous and contradictory, attracting a lot of public attention.

Incidents

The station "Voikovskaya" became a place with which some events, known to the Muscovites, are connected. Over the past decade, the following has happened here:

  • In 2006, on the Sokol-Voykovskaya stretch, a concrete pile fell through the tunnel and one of the cars of the passing train was damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
  • In 2013, on the apron of "Voykovskaya" video was shot, as a biker on a motorcycle rides the platform, which is forbidden by the rules of using the underground and is just dangerous. A month later, the culprit was detained for hooliganism.

Development prospects

Despite its rather important role and successful location, the station "Voykovskaya" in the coming years is unlikely to get its development as part of the metro. The third transfer circuit will pass through the "Dynamo", about the connection with other lines, too, so far nothing is said. Nevertheless, as part of the development of urban infrastructure and plans to integrate the small ring of the Moscow railroad into the transport network, the station may receive a second birth, although now it does not lack passengers, especially on weekends, when people go shopping and to a cinema located in the SEC "Metropolis".
